Sex with your wife was bad, but masturbation was even worse. “If illicit commerce of the sexes is a heinous sin,” Kellogg wrote, “self-pollution is a crime doubly abominable.” In Plain Facts for Old and Young: Embracing the Natural History and Hygiene of Organic Life, he cataloged 39 different symptoms of a person plagued by masturbation, including general infirmity, defective development, mood swings, fickleness, bashfulness, boldness, bad posture, stiff joints, fondness for spicy foods, acne, palpitations, and epilepsy.

Kellogg’s solution to all this suffering was a healthy diet. He thought that meat and certain flavorful or seasoned foods increased sexual desire, and that plainer food, especially cereals and nuts, could curb it. While working as the superintendent at Michigan’s Battle Creek Sanitarium, he hit upon a few different healthy eating ideas. Two became breakfast staples and one (thankfully) didn’t.

The town is called Whittier, Alaska. The building you see in the pic was built kind of recently. In the 80's i believe. There is a much older building that is similar to this one but much older that was built in WW2. It has been abandoned since the new one has been built and the city did not have enough money to demolish it so it is still there. Its boarded up but the kids broke into it and you are able to go inside and walk through it. There is graffitti all inside the old one and glass everywhere. Its really cool and spooky. They have a theater (old style for plays and stuff, not movies) that is creepy as fuck. We walked in there and climbed on the stage and looked into the chairs and it was one of the most eeriest feelings ive ever had. In the very bottom of the building is a Jail with about 12 cells. Very creepy. and there is a bowling alley that is destroyed but still able to tell its a bowling alley. Anyone that visits me I always bring them there because its a cool experience.

Whittier is primarily a fishing town. It started out as a military spot in WW2 when Japan attacked Alaska. Its right on the water so the US had a small navy base there. Once the war was over the foundation for the town was already there so the army moved out, citizens moved in, and its been a quiet little fishing place ever since. Heres some pics:

This is the old abandoned building i talked about:
