Wow. Blood is actually blue while in the veins it turns red when exposed to oxygen

Deoxygenated blood is a dark maroon, but not blue. Veins appear to be blue, since the blood is below the skin and other tissue. If you cut yourself, you bleed bright red; but if your blood is drawn by needle from a vein into a vacuum tube, it stays the dark maroon color.
