Why Chris Benoit is not in the WWE Hall of Fame: "Why #ChrisBenoit not yet inducted to #HOF?.... You can't be serious."

The fan replied, "Benoit was a GREAT wrestler, you've got to give him credit for that."

Ross responded, "No one ever said Benoit wasn't a great wrestler did they? The last few days of his life precludes his HOF status."

As we noted earlier here on the website, the November 2011 issue of Maxim features an article on CM Punk (who dubs him wrestling's "next megastar") and it is publicly confirmed for the first time that Beth Phoenix is his real-life girlfriend. "The Glamazon" is quoted in the piece as she recalls the reaction backstage to his scathing on-air speech on the June 27 RAW concerning the way in which WWE is run and its owner, Vince McMahon.

"I was in the dressing room," recalls Phoenix, "and everyone sprinted over to see what would happen when he came backstage. Would he get fired on the spot? Would there be some sort of fight?"

Punk entered a side door backstage, coming up behind the mob of wrestlers and personnel. They formed a circle around him. "Then, legit, everyone began to hug me," Punk recalls. "I'm talking cameramen, guys who work the boom backstage, everyone."

In an update on Dustin "Goldust" Runnels, the WWE agent/producer is expected to undergo yet another surgery on his shoulder. This is due to scar tissue blocking him from regaining his full range of motion.

-- A decision was made to bring Jim Ross back to RAW the week after being "fired" after minute-by-minute television ratings showed a huge drop in viewers when Ross was "fired". WWE also received a ton of negative feedback via their social networking outlets and took notice. No word on what the television future of Jim Ross is as of this writing.

Michael Cole tweeted the following: "Thrilled to report @JRsBBQ will not be part of #Vengeance tonight. Management felt he'd be too busy crying about OU's loss yesterday."

Some random person then wrote: "@MichaelCole shut up man ur just jealous bc @JRsBBQ is more popular than u! @JoeyStyles."

Styles responded: "Please leave me out of JR vs. Cole."

Jim Ross then followed: "Leave me out of JR/Cole, too..and 3 man announce train wreck."

The Undertaker and Michelle McCool were spotted this afternoon by fans situated in the parking at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas (site of tonight’s RAW) entering the venue.

The married couple reside in Austin and are likely just backstage visiting friends. It is also where they tied the knot in June 2010.

While many in the locker room are happy for James Storm capturing the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, according to one wrestler, there is more faith in Bobby Roode as champion over "The Tennessee Cowboy." Concern also lingers about Storm being "too Southern" to represent TNA.

-- We reported last week that the reason Eric Bischoff has so much power within TNA is due to Spike TV working directly through him. This is because Spike TV had lost faith in Dixie Carter, following the situation where they were doing the angle to get the Main Event Mafia back together last year and they spent months building it up. She had told Spike TV that Booker T and Kevin Nash were going to be back. But Booker had no interest in returning. Kevin Nash was under contract but got out of it, (reportedly telling friends he threatened to "tell the truth about her") and she released him from his contract and allowed him to sign with WWE. Months of build went nowhere, and Fortune was turned face to feud with Immortal.

Former WWF star Marty Jannetty has relocated to Pennsylvania. As noted over the weekend, Jannetty is working for CHIKARA later this month.

-- As we noted several weeks ago here on the website, fans in Dallas, TX were treated to the return of Shawn Michaels for a rare DX appearance before the SmackDown! tapings. We noted this morning that there has been talk that Michaels will be returning to WWE to further the Triple H/Kevin Nash storyline. As you know by now, Nash made a surprise return at WWE's Vengeance PPV and attacked Triple H.

The WWE creative team wanted to break the "English" announce table while in Mexico, thinking that it would be funny. They were overruled.

-- As noted earlier here on the website, Dolph Ziggler is getting strong reviews for his recent performances. The feeling is that he comes across like a star in interviews, and the fact that he was able to work on TV with Mason Ryan without exposing Ryan's weakness' is a positive.

-- Early word is that Randy Orton is scheduled to win the Royal Rumble. As with everything, that could easily change.

Kevin Nash expects to be medically cleared by doctors on Friday to wrestle. He has not wrestled since returning at SummerSlam due to a medical issue with his WWE mandated physical, which occurred after the storyline had commenced.

Meanwhile, Nash is expected to appear on tonight's RAW SuperShow after returning to WWE programming last night at Vengeance. He was spotted leaving a hotel in nearby Austin, Texas this afternoon.

WWE sent out the following today…

WrestleMania(R) Makes Record $62 Million for Atlanta

STAMFORD, Conn., Oct 24, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- WWE(R) announced today that WrestleMania XXVII generated $62.1 million in economic impact for the city of Atlanta, according to a study conducted by the Enigma Research Corporation.

This is a new record for WrestleMania's economic impact, and a $17 million increase over WrestleMania XXVI. WrestleMania XXVII also generated approximately $7.8 million in local, state and county taxes.

"We are proud to have partnered with an organization that not only helped significantly contribute to the economy of Atlanta, but also gave back to the community in a multitude of ways," said Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed. "WrestleMania Week brought tens of thousands of fans from across the world to our great city and furthered Atlanta's reputation as one of the sports and entertainment capitals of the world. We look forward to the possibility of hosting a future WrestleMania."

"WWE is thrilled that the city of Atlanta and the great state of Georgia were the recipients of the largest economic windfall to date for WrestleMania," said John P. Saboor, Senior Vice President of Special Events for WWE. "We would like to thank Mayor Reed and all of the public and private sector partners in Atlanta for embracing WWE and our worldwide fans, and for helping create an exceptional outcome for WrestleMania XXVII."

A capacity crowd of 71,617 fans from all 50 states and 30 countries attended WWE's pop culture extravaganza this past April. Key highlights from the study included:

-- $62.1 million of direct, indirect and induced impact derived from spending by non-locals visiting specifically for WrestleMania XXVII.

-- 75% of fans that attended WrestleMania were from outside the Atlanta area, with 61% staying three nights or more.

-- The economic impact derived from WrestleMania Week equated to the creation of 621 full-time jobs for the area.

-- 52% of fans that attended WrestleMania were between the ages of 20 and 34, 21% were under the age of 20 and 20% were between the ages of 35 and 49.

"WrestleMania XXVII was a tremendous success and provided a positive financial impact on metro Atlanta," said Dan Corso, Atlanta Sports Council Executive Director. "This is a noteworthy example of our city's collaborative ability to recruit and successfully host major sporting events, and it hopefully bodes well for securing a future WrestleMania."

Next year, WrestleMania XXVIII will take place Sunday, April 1 at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, FL. The main event will feature John Cena(R) taking on The Rock(R) in an epic encounter. The event will be broadcast on pay-per-view, and viewed in more than 100 countries. Tickets go on sale Saturday, November 5 at 10 AM EST through all Ticketmaster outlets, www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000.

Enigma Research Corporation is an international consulting firm which specializes in measuring the economic impact of special events. Enigma's economists developed a customized model which converted expenditures into economic impact, employment created and taxes generated as a result of the event.

As seen Monday night, WWE has decided on The Miz and R-Truth vs. The Rock and John Cena for Rock’s return to the ring at the Survivor Series pay-per-view. Some time in the past few days, the decision was made to have just a tag team match instead of the 5-on-5 match that was originally planned.

-- WWE has confirmed on their website that Mick Foley will be appearing at the November 14th three-hour RAW Supershow from Boston. Up until this week, only the TD Garden in Boston had announced Foley.

-- As seen on RAW this week, Triple H name-dropped Sean Waltman and Shawn Michaels when talking about his friends in the business. It was noted by some backstage that Triple H did not mention Scott Hall or Ric Flair because of their situations. Regarding Waltman working with WWE again, most believe that he will be hired as some kind of agent for FCW once Triple H’s developmental changes are figured out and begin.

Chris Jericho wrote the following on Twitter after watching the new Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels DVD: “Watched the @ShawnMichaels_ @BretHart rivalry DVD and it was incredible. True emotion and feeling…gave me closure as a fan. A must see!”

-- Word is that WWE keeps bringing Jim Ross back week after week to pop the ratings.

-- In an update from last night, the CM Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio WWE Title Match at Survivor Series is not official yet. The storyline is that John Laurinaitis will either make the match official or scrap it before next week’s RAW.

-- The WWE Insider Twitter account noted last night that Zack Ryder tried to recover and help John Cena in the main event on RAW but WWE trainers wouldn’t clear him to compete.

Madusa, who brought the WWE Women's Championship back to prominence in the 1990s, gave her thoughts on her former employer's Vengeance pay-per-view event on Facebook.

The wrestler formerly known as Alundra Blayze commented on the Divas Championship bout between Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres. She has high praise for "The Glamazon," but not her opponent.

"Well I wish I would of met Beth during my days...she really needs some great talent to be able for her to shine.... as in my days this was my problem as well... again great talent, Beth and no one to wrestle...she's believable," she writes.

"Eve needs to keep modeling...awesome looking girl in the ring... should not be there.. just saying."

Madusa adds that she would love to drop "the REAL WWE/WWF title" to Phoenix. "What a great match that would be," she says.

Upon seeing Kevin Nash make a surprise appearance at Vengeance, the women's wrestling great vented on her former colleague's real-life character.

She wrote, "Something about Kevin Nash on WWE stinks......I bet if Stephanie had a twin he would be all up in that.. and no disrespect to steph....Nash always seems to hurt people.....in the ring and out.....

"and by the way.... that is just how the man brain thinks... you guys are too funny... but love ya guys... Nash is a very manipulative guy...he works his silver tongue to his advantage....he should of been a sit down comedian.. he's good, and i have no grudges..... on any of my co workers...just experience."
