According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, the word going around in WWE was that Lio Rush got so much heat for his joke about Emma being fired that "there was talk within hours that he may be gone from the promotion."

Rush apparently had a meeting with NXT management regarding the joke. Rush is reportedly going to “have to work to get heat off of him” and the belief is that the quick apology might have saved his job.

The criticism towards Rush has continued this week with Jim Cornette calling Lio Rush a “mark” and discussing how wrestlers can also be marks in addition to fans.
