yup...it's osteosarcoma. It normally occurs in the long bones of the arms or legs. General rule is "away from the elbow, near the knee".

Terry Fox, the famous Canadian who ran across part of the country, had osteosarcoma.

8% of all osteosarcomas occur in the skull. It looks spiky like that b/c those are what are called 'spicules'. They grow b/c the problem with this cancer is when the cells that make bone aren't being regulated by anything. So they grow out of proportion and cause crazy growth like that. It doesn't always cause spicules like the picture. But i came across that and it really disturbed even me.
