When he does drop his 10th album he needs to go all out with it, please work with some of those great producers like Rza, Kanye, Hit Men, Polow Da Don, DJ Premiere, 9th Wonder, Q Tip, Justice League and Pete Rock

Nas wont use any of them.

Whole album done by Salaam Remi!

I demand you Show AFRIKA Respect & if you want Nasty Nas go listen to Illmatic.....90% of us brothers down here in Afrika & the Carribbean loved Distant Relatives so we would gladly welcome DR2...Im sick & tired of niggaz whinin & complainin bout the direction that Nas chooses in his Music. A Great Musician should be able to transcend race, regional boundary, religion, gender & social status and Nas epitomizes that and thats what most conscious have failed to do... So all yall callin for Nas to drop an Illmatic 2 or anticipatin a firm reunion that shit aint happenin. In all honesty, how can a 36 yr old emcee switch from makin conscious records to makin mafioso themed records??? That's some punk pussy shit. Nas legacy in Hiphop is cemented, what is tryn to achieve is a legacy in "Music"...... i remember an article in the 2007 source mag where Nas said for him to be viewed as a Music Icon like James Brown he has to be transcendent & has to drop like 6 more albums..

How can you down Nas fans, for wanting something like this?

He has one of the most loyal fan bases out there..

Wanting to hear more from his past success,

should be acceptable if they support his new works.

I thought the Firm thing would be dope as hell ..

Who's to say they'd go back to Mafios rap?

Nas and AZ always been great together, and Foxy might step up for the female rappers ..

Also, ILLmatic 2, was basically STILLmatic ..

It would be tight if he went back to his `matic state of mind, and released another Classic.

Other then that, i co-sign everything else.

. I am starting to think that Distant Relatives deserves the same accolades as Illmatic, if not more. Yep I said, it might even be the better classic in terms of difficulty. For Nas to be able to do substance and quality, at this late stages in his career and in these times where everything has to be pop to sell is commendable.

Jah bless u Gifted. I feel the same way bout DR. IMO its one of the Best Records in the last 20 years in any Music Genre ...In all seriousness i hav yet to see a negative review...Im addicted to this shit. Afrika must wake up,Sabali,Friends,Tribal War,Count your Blessings,Leaders,In his own words,Dispear,Nahmean is Beautiful music....

IMO Emcees who try to re-do/re- live off of past records jus shows redundancy & lack of growth musically. A gud example is Jay & Raekwon to name a few. Aside from the similarity in names I think that ILLmatic & Stillmatic are different records theme & content wise. Az & Nas have made Classics same as Nas & Premo. If they decide one day to do an album together well & gud but if it dont work out lets accept it & keep it movin..

I second that. If you followed Nas's career, anyone would see that Distant Relatives is illmatic but from a more wordly, matured, focused and wiser Nas whereas illmatic comes from a raw, unadulterated, uncompromised, poetic commentary from a young street QB kid. Both albums are pure classics because they are true to where he's at and flawless at the same time. Both are commendable, transcend music and above his peers. That's what makes Nas the GOAT.

Knowing Nas, he's always trying to do something different each time around so I'm not sure about DR2. Maybe leftover tracks that shoulda made the first album.

UPDATE: Nas told last night at his concert that he was dropping part II to Distant Relatives now see what's included, such as with features from Lauryn Hill, Mary J Blige

Speaking to HipHopDX last night Nas revealed that in november-december he'll be releasing a "Distant Relatives II" of that album's 2010 sequel, Only Distant Relatives. Pt II with new bonus materials. "I'm really excited about that," said Nas. "There's gonna be some new material and stuff that y'all never heard before. I'm just tryin' to just secure my fan-base. I'm lettin' 'em know that Nas is here. I'm not tryin' to do no 2 years hiatus no more. I'm tryin' to be as relevant as I can right now."

"I'm workin' hard and I'm losin' a lot of rest to stand the test of time, and let everybody know that I'm still here."

this will get supported, nas, damian, lauryn hill, mary, bars, singing, over damian's beat's, sound like sense, this sounds sensible, i hope they get lauryn to spit that shit too, spray that piff, that shit you need to learn though, you get me, sounds like another classic to me man, yes it does, yes surr

lol @ "great music"....what he's feeding his fans is a sleeping pill on a disc....the shit was a dud in sales and another dud among the many weak albums he's been dropping as of late. Nas and D Marley don't mesh at all, plain and simple...the proof is in that corny DR album. He should concentrate on another solo project instead of another Nas/Marley collabo...

You just sound like a salty hater. Really bitter. DR was a great album and def the best album of 2010. Everything on that record was great from all the ill verses to the production. At least say something that makes sense when trying to talk shit.

I prefer Nasty/Esco myself.. However Distant Relatives was a great album. Some people felt the album was forced but I don't feel that way. The chemistry was definitely there and it will probably be even greater if they come out with part 2.

What did y'all think of this album?

I actually went out and bought this album on its drop date and I'll admit I wasn't too impressed with it at first...

But the more I listened to it and actually interpreted the lyrics and got to know the sequencing of the whole album, I saw it for what it is: a great piece of original work.

If you haven't really given it the time, I suggest you give it a couple more spins because there's definitely something there...

Yesss I thought there was no one out there that liked that album. All I ever hear when I bring it up is moans and disappointment.

Highlights (excluding singles):

Testify
Louis Farrakhan
Y'all My N***as
Sly Fox
Fried Chicken
