@thereal_ba I got that newest packet tracer if you want it still

Should I and is it worth it to take the CCENT exam ICND1? Im about to finish the 2nd of 4 classes in a few weeks and they recommend taking it after the 2nd class

the sooner you get it out of the way the sooner you can focus on ICND2 and knock that out and youll have your CCNA

i would. i took my CCNA in two parts as well. Employers don't recognize the CCENT though

i would. i took my CCNA in two parts as well. Employers don't recognize the CCENT though

I would go ahead and do it to while that information is still fresh, I did mine in one test though

 
I didn't realize that the ccent and network+ information is damn near the same. Could it be possible for me to land a network engineer role with only 6 months of help desk experience and a ccna?

It's possible but the employer has to be willing to take a chance. Like king erauno said earlier the experience requirements can usually be cut in half.

yea everybody in my class said if you pass the 1st class you should be good to pass the Network+ test

yea everybody in my class said if you pass the 1st class you should be good to pass the Network+ test

I may go for the first half of the ccna next month then.
 
how saturated is the market ? is this guy full of shit? can someone expect to get a job that isnt in the help desk with a ccna and work your way up? im referring to south florida

dude explained it very well. exactly what i did to get to my position now.

work at the helpdesk for 2-3 years. then went to a new company and became the sole IT person where i did networking, systems admin and helpdesk and worked on my CCNP. 3 years later i dipped out for a network engineer job

i think most people do but...its sort of a right of passage. because even in networking, database, anything else... folks will always ask you to fix their computers lol

doing this already, I spend 5 hours a week in the noc talking to the managers
