We can debate who is more skilled and who has better music all day. It all comes down to taste and opinion.
But one thing you cannot debate is numbers. Stats.

Based on the numbers, Eminem is the number 1 artist in hiphop music. He is the most popular and most successful hands down. You can't debate that. Rolling Stone kept their opinions out of it. The did it right. They just looked at the Stats. They even put critical acclaim as a category and weighed all of the parts equally.
