I'm not tryna single anybody out. Just saying if you don't like something ignore it or avoid it. Maybe speak on it occasionally if you HAVE TO. Anything outside of that comes across as feminine. Women stay talking shit about people they dont like. Men handle their business or keep it moving.

I came in here tonight and there were 5 Eminem threads on the front page and 4 more crying about Eminem threads being closed.

IMO he's not relevant enough to the real hip hop community to get that much attention. Yall are pushing good threads off the front page (only page anyone checks) to talk about some bullshit.

I knew somebody would get it. :tu

Eminem was accepted by "hip-hop" before the Dre co-sign.

His work on Soundbombing,The Outsidaz EP, and Hellbound with Masta Ace over a sample from Soul Caliber was impeccable and had hip-hop heads checking for him.

My Name Is got him MTV attention and the rest is endlessly discussed in The Reason with 50-11 threads about Eminem every day by people who claim to hate him.

*not an Eminem fan & haven't listened to anything he's done sine 8 Mile or The Eminem Show*

This is true, he earned his hiphop respect on his own in the underground.

His work with Rawkus and other underground work was pretty dope, like you said.

I just think his commercial success is owed to Dre. Em would've been like Bubba Sparxxx if he was on any other label

Man, again with this revisionist history. Em's most popular mainstream album, TES, was mostly produced by Eminem and had the least amount of influence from Dre. He even said so when talking about the album. Dre may have shown him the door to the mainstream, but he kicked that shit down with his emo content, radio friendly hooks, and over produced beats on TES.

When I first heard that song, I wrote Eminem off as a gimmick. Then he dropped "Guilty Conscience" which I thought was dope, but I still wasn't sold on him. I also liked "The Way I Am" and what he did on "Forgot About Dre", but it wasn't until Eminem Show/8 Mile/The Benzino disses that I started to respect him as an MC and became a fan of his music.

this right here

Hiphop accepted Eminem because of the initial Dre cosign, along wid the timing that he came out.

Whether you like Eminem or not, when it comes to actual rap skills, the white boy can rap. Not talking bout content or anything else apart from rap skills.

Any aspiring rapper, anyone within the industry has to acknowledge that he can rap circles round most.

The reason why he so succesfull is cause he's white tho.

to be honest I though Em had a Camron like flow on that song

just replace Em's voice with Cam's and you'll see what I mean

but yeah I liked that song

I didnt like My Name Is at all thought that shit was wack... but Ironically the first MC I heard give Em props on the radio was Cam in 99 when Angie asked whats he listening to he said Eminem joint.

As for the Thread it was a CD of Em Freestyles on the Wakeup Show and lot of the shit from EP and dope underground stuff Trice Thieves, Five Star General, No One Iller, 365, Bad Meets Evil Joints, collab with High and Mighty, song with Outsiders Hard Act to Follow etc. which were much different than My Name Is that made me fan.

Let me know people, and gee this is not a hate thread so keep your fat double cheese burger ass out of it

Well at the time, there was literally no one in the rap game rapping like em. Plus as a white boy spitting like that he just instanly turned heads. Plus it was an artist from Dr Dre, so everyone was extra interested in what he had to say.

Your opinion is kinda worthless.

A British Black man in a Du-Rag is too hilarious to take serious.

This is the only time i can say that an Em verse was unncessary. BIG fucking destroyed this song then Em just dropped a verse that was good but didnt compare to BIG's plus with Puff talking shit in the background Em wasnt needed. They couldve put that verse elsewhere
