Don't you think that would open a Pandora's box of a shitload of rappers wanting to reap benefits of hearing their lines quoted in rap songs??? I'm sure that Jay has either contributed to the kids or helped Mrs. Wallace with the Foundation she has set up for Biggie or both.

No, no I don't. Just because one person does it, doesn't mean everyone else would have to do it.

What makes you sure of that, you have a source to back that up?

@ pop. If Jay did it on one song, what's the point of him not doing it on every other song? I don't give a fuck about who Biggie stole lines from, I'm only wondering why Jay would use a bullshit excuse such as "big uppin his brother" if he's not gonna just give credit in the liner notes.

In the society we live in, if he wasn't walkin what he was talkin with Biggie, he would be exposed. Plus it has be shown the he goes to the black tie events and but as far as the kids go how much would you respect a person who brags about giving to somebody else's kids. That shit should be done from the heart. With giving credit in the liner notes what do you mean like saying Biggie co-wrote the song???

No he doesnt, this is actually kinda stupid.............Did BIG give Credit to SLick mRick when he say some of his lines????? Or maybe when He Borrowed Some of His Style???............Rappers do this all the time, the only time it became a HUGE "problem" for Jay is Because of that Stupdi SOng to that Cam did, What niggas Fail to mentio is that Cam jacked a whole diss SOng that Pac orginally used for NaS, and rehashed it to go against Him

Jay Z only gave credit to Biggie on "Give It To Me" cause he took damn near the whole 1st verse, lol. As long as he makes sure Biggie's childern never go broke, that will be payment enough for the constant Biggie biting. Also Biggie quoted lines but it was clear he was paying homage cause he said "POPULAR" rap lines that everyone knew. Jay Z be taking Big's obsure lines and using them. Not many people hard that "Keep Your Hands High" cause Tracy Lee album flopped but Jay used that line and it became one of his most popular lines after T.I. sampled it for "Bring Em Out" (T.I. owes Biggie royalties for using those bars in my view from that song, it's Biggie's lines not Jay's). Biggie was paying homage when he did the PSK Schooly D track, it was obvious Big was trying to remind people of that track from a new generation.

I like Jay-Z's music (a good portion of it anyways)...but what he does is biting theres no way around it.

If you take a popular line then thats one thing..hes talking slick rick lines from 88 and put em on the radio like most people really know slick' rhymes and shit

and the degree to which this guy "pays homage" is preposterous...how many other rappers can have a 8 min segment of all the lines they borrowed from someone else?

either hes a biter, or he thinks everyone knows everyline he's "paying homage to" and is just being lazy and doesnt wanna come up with his own shit.

I don't care what rappers do all the time, I'm specifically talkin about Jay-Z since he has taken so many of Biggie's lines and used them as if they were his own. He says he's only paying homage as some sort of tribute to Biggie, so what harm would it be for him to give Biggie writing credit on the album so he can reap some profits from it?

Cam's song wasn't on an album where he would collect royalties for sales of it. Biggie's lines that Jay "borrowed" are all over Jay's albums and Biggie should have been getting paid for that.

Agreed.

And Cam isn't the issue here..if he's a hypocrite then so be it, but this thread is about Jay - Z so lets stick to him...rappers might do it here and there but its undeniable...NO ONE does it as much as Jay-Z...and I wouldnt have a problem with it if he was only doing popular lines..but you cant have obsucre lines from 10-15 years ago and then put em on a song thats gonna go on radio where 98% of listeners wont know its source..dudes get kicked outta school for plagarism

Okay u right let talk about Jay in particular. A blind man can see that Jay uses pieces of Biggie's lines either on hooks on a small portion of HIS songs. Until Jay makes a song where he does a BIG song from the start to the ending and try to pass it off as his own, i don't see any problem with this. 8 minutes of borrowing "pieces of lines" doesn't make up for 11 albums and several guest appearances on soundtracks and other's peoples songs.

What rappers claiming GOAT do it all the time? What rappers considered as the best in Hip Hop over the last 35+ years have done this?

it would be a clusterfuck with lawyers money and people with their hands out

but it would DRASTICALLY cut back on biting in the future tho

I'll point this out again. When the video came out exposing Jayz he was only 5-6 albums in. He's continued to bite since. Not mention 6-8 minutes = 100+ bars.

ur trippin. nobody dumb enough to sample a whole song. In my eyes bonnie and Clyde is enough. He damn near bit Bigs whole verse and younger generation fans probably thought those were hot Jay lines he spit without writing. JAY bit every rapper that was hot from Slick Rick-Nas-Tupac-Biggie-Snoop- BG.

There was a time in Hip Hop where niggas would just catch you at a park Jam, show or the studio and beat you down. Hip Hop policed itself when it came to biting. No need for lawyers. In fact during the70's 80's and early 90's there were entire songs for those who bit and biting was mentioned over and over by MC's as a sucka move. Jayz is a SUCKA MC.

So.... but if we do a "Lines u didnt get until later" Thread 85% of those line would be Jay-Z's own lines......

And if, we flew to china we could eat fresh seaweed. What does that have to do with biting? Furthermore speak for yourself, dude is an elementary MC. There is nothing complex about the BS he spits.
