when reasonable doubt came out a lotta niggas was saying "oh its another big" cause of his subject matter. im not gonna say he wouldn't have been a big star anyway but he definitely benefited from big and pac dying, it left the spotlight on him, nas, and dmx.

I don't think jay-z would be as popular or as beloved by people like he is now if big had died, I don't even think he'd have blown up if 2pac was still alive. Reasonable doubt is a classic but people get amnesia over the fact that that album went plat x amount of years later after his career really began to take off. The same thing with vol 1., that ish didn't go play out the gate, it was vol. 2 that really did it for him. Jay is extrememely talented but I always noticed that he didn't get the attention he desreved until after biggie and tupac passed. The rap game was looking for that next wave of stars and along came jay, x, ja rule, and they held it down for their time. But in regards to jay i think he'd be respected but not where he is now in his career

this is real talk

If Big was alive alot of things would be different. Would Jay- Z be in the position he's in now...prolly not. Would he still be a platinum selling artist...yes!

This is complete & utter bullshit...

Jay is where he's at in life because of his business ventures/calculated risks. Co-CEO of his label. Great team behind him (Lyor, Liles, Dame & Biggs)

Biggie was an artist signed to Bad Boy who hadn't shown any penchant for business himself.

Even if Big lived, it wouldn't have stopped "Hard Knock Life" from blowing, Jay from becoming a star in his own right & making some kind of business moves in Hip Hop behind the scenes. Get fucking serious.

That was the closest you will see of a battle between Hova and BIG, battling thru their female counter parts
