I mean, didnt Australia move into Asia to get out of the Oceania group??? Its a joke, all to make it easier to qualify for World Cup, whilst New Zealand, their neighbours still play in the Oceania group... Since when was Israel part of Europe??? Why arnt they in the Asian group??? Maybe we can get Ireland to 'change continent' and play in the Oceania group every 2 years for the WC to insure they qualify, then move back to the European continent for the Euros 2 years later...

Arab countries refused to play Israel so they had to leave Asian group in 1974. They joined UEFA in 1994. Also, moving to Oceania wouldn't ensure Ireland's qualification because they could play a South American team (this time) or a CONCACAF team (like Mexico last time).

Then they should be kicked out or handed a 3-0 loss if they refused to play, politics shouldnt play a part in football/sports imo... If you are in a continent, you should play in that continent... I mean Isreail even song in the Eurovision Song Contest (apparently)... Its funny Qatar are happy to let them play in World Cup though...

Just found this article, I think it sums it up, if you read it, its not anti Australian its making a point:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-Asian-confederation-spot-belongs-Israel.html

I think the other members voted them out. If they were to ever meet in a World Cup the Arab teams would forfeit the game.

Then thats tough, let them forfeit 3-0... But now it seems the countries that wanted Israel (who are in asia) out and Australia (who are not in asia) in are now moaning that Australia are doing too well lol It should be simple, if you are in a continent, you play there... FCK politics and envelopes of money under the table... It should be simple, sports has no place for politics... Everyone is the same on the field or whatever playing grounds, sportsmen/women are all equal on game day...

It's easier said than done saying that politics has no place in football, and if that was the case then England should not have kicked off to UEFA about being unable to wear poppies at matches - they did and got their way. The sheer tension with Israel and other neighbouring countries is far too unstable to a point where it is unsafe making them play against neighbouring countries. Keeping Israel in the Asian football association would result in murders. The Munich Olympics massacre in 1972 is an example. Politics does enter sport whether one wants it to or not.

Their argument for the poppies was it was that it wasnt political though, it was about unity, I know what you are saying though... I would be up for banning national anthems too tbh...

With regards to Israel and their grouping, has there been any violence in the past at their games??? Im not sure, one way around it is you could make them play on neutral turf, surely thats a way to unite them atleast for 90mins... At the end of the day, FIFA could say dont play, you get a loss or are kicked out the cup... I know politics does enter the sport at some level, and I do get the Israel argument, though I still dont agree with them being 'kicked out' because of politics... Security and resources has stepped up ALOT since 1972 Olympics, I dont think that can be compared...

But with regards the Australian's entering Asia I just really dont agree with, it makes no sense other than it benefits them...

That argument made by England FA was bullshit - of course it's political.

There's no point considering neutral turf if the teams won't play each other, it's just easier moving Israel to another group considering how despised they are by other Arab and Muslim countries. The Munich Olympics took place in Europe - it didn't stop the massacre. It didn't stop the Israeli government retalitating with further assassinations. No amount of security will prevent people from trying to hurt others - just look at how many incidents there have been in Europe over the past few years. Making teams play each other just seems authoritarian and doesn't solve deeper issues. It's not like forcing Israel and Palestine to play each other would magically produce a Kumbaya moment and instantly create peace in the Middle East.

With Australia moving to a different group, I can't really say I care. It's difficult enough qualifying out the Oceania group as it is. It's not even guaranteed that one team out the group would even reach the World Cup which seems even more unfair. If Australia moving to the Asia group means the chance of two geographically based Oceania teams qualifying and a broader range of teams overall then I don't have a problem with it.

If I were a baller I wouldn't wear shit, poppy, rainbow bands, Kick it Out tee shirts, any of that.

Not that I'm against those causes, but they don't (understandably) allow players to wear their own shits, so they shouldn't force politics on the players
