Trinidad and Tobago wanted it more and they take football seriously. You have a population of 323 million people yet you can't find 11 decent footballers to help you qualify for the World Cup is the real embarrassment. You've always been a hype nation that never takes football seriously so it's no surprise you've flopped. 2 million or 323 million - it doesn't matter if you only treat football as an afterthought.

On the plus side it stops the bandwagon jumpers descending on here during every USA match. They disappear afterwards for four years.

sums it up to perfection right there.

klinnsman also has the last laugh.

congrats to iceland. country with the smallest population to ever make it to the world cup. once upon a time it was trinidad.

as mention above, they took it serious. the big stage is theirs to showcase.

It seems UAE's population in 1990, Uruguay's in 1930, and Kuwait's in 1982 were smaller than Jamaica's in 1998. I'm Jamaican by the way.

I guess I would have to research this more.

Big up reggae boys.

Good search. They mention Northern Ireland in 1958 right after T&T, followed by Slovenia, Kuwait then Jamaica.

Jamaica will be 6th now

Wow, USA drew away to Mexico, Honduras, and Panama and beat Panama and Honduras 4-0 and 6-0, and still couldn't qualify. lol

Panama's first goal didn't cross the line. lol

Meanwhile in South America, Chile's exit seems funny. Chile appealed against Bolivia for using an ineligible player in a draw. Chile gained 2 points from getting awarded a 3-0. Peru also gained 3 points and 3-0 win as the same player also played when Bolivia beat them 2-0. Peru finished ahead of Chile on goal difference in the end. Chile would have finished 5th if they didn't adjust the points.

Man it doesnt seem like a World Cup without Netherlands!!! Although I dont like the USMNT because they think they are better then they are (and the horrible U-S-A chant), its always dope having them in the World Cup to help grow the game in the States...

Foul how there was no Goal Line Technology in that Panama game, that was a terrible mistake by the officials lol

What I think doesnt help with England, and our support is... Even during England games we, or some fans, are still tribal towards our club teams, so when Rooney, Terry or Joe Hart do something wrong, as hated as they are week in week out by United, Liverpool or Arsenal fans etc it kicks in during or after the games...

BUT I think the press have something to do with it too, they make these shocking back page headlines, which imo makes peoples minds up like if Rooney was to get sent off and we lose the back page could be 'ROON-A-TIC' so we see it and go 'yeah he is bad, its all his fault'...

But you look at South American or Italian fans they seem to get behind their teams and dont get hammered by the media (from what i gather)...

I didn't miss the Netherlands in 2002. I wasn't born the last time USA missed out.

This, it doesnt matter how big a country is in regards to how good that country is at a sport, I mean how good are America at cricket??? They should be better then the Windies then if thats the case no??? I still think America will be a big force in 25 years or so as it seem the sport is getting more popular with FAMILIES and KIDS, which imo is where the love of the game starts... But they need also need schools and good P.E teachers to do their part too... Money and funding is all well and good, but it takes being surrounded by the game since birth to plant the seed for the love of the game... The first thing most British and South American babies get or TBH babies from nearly EVERY country in the world APART from the USA get when they are born is a toy football, a baby football grow or something football related haha
