take toronto for example

if they let derozan go and the team isnt able to replace his production easily and they take a step back, say to around the 8th seed or just out of the playoffs, would the team suffer in attendance, tv ratings -- would they lose revenue if the team isnt as competitive as its been

could they just try for the status quo, which is to keep the current core, which may not be good enough to win titles but wins 50-55 games, maybe gets to the second round of the playoffs but draws well and gets good TV ratings

the chicago bulls have a similar approach
