I think every NFL coach should get at least 2-3 years to try and turn a bad team around. It's rare you see the Jim Harbaugh, Andy Reid type of turn around so quickly. Usually takes time.

Word. In fact, if you're considering a candidate that you're not comfortable with giving 2 to 3 years to turn it around -- don't hire him. *shrug*

True. Like I thought the bum ass Raiders were kinda headed in the right direction with Tom Cable and then with Hue Jackson.. They got rid of them both too quickly after 1 or 2 years and now they back at laughing stock status.

Pretty easy to tell how much faith the front office had in a coach when they hired him by how quick they fire him.

Then again, some of these coaches get fired by a different GM that didn't hire them. Which is kinda unfair.

Yeah unless so,etching is obviously wrong, nfl coaches should get 3 years...college coaches 5 imo. There are exceptions of course, but in general firing a coach after a year or two is usually a knee jerk reaction

But I ain't about to feel TOO sorry for these melted coaches.

The ones that still had years left on their contract all had buy-out or "early termination" clauses. So they all going in the bushes with a 7-figure check.

Especially if they have young players that they're trying to develop. Especially young QB's that have to go from system to system to system in their first few years in the league.

Yeah, I agree with the general consensus on here..Coaches need about 3 years to embed themselves fully into an organization. The smart teams are the ones which don't base their decisions on fan hype and hoemotionality.

Not really. He's coming off a ACL and ain't gettin no younger. Playing more zone could prolong his career. Might be perfect for him at this point in his career. Pro-longed the fuck out of Barber's career.
