Until they stop allowing people to fly in from Africa, the safest thing to do is to avoid flying altogether if possible.

They say the shit's not airborne, but at the same time they'll try to track down every person that comes in contact with someone who didn't even display any symptoms.

Despite saying that you can't catch it if someone isn't displaying any symptoms.

Too many contradictions to take a chance.

Medical personnel:

How has the protocol at your respective hospitals changed since the onset of the Ebola virus in the U.S.?

What are you all being instructed to do in the event a patient is suspected of having Ebola.

I was watching 60 minutes yesterday and one of the nurses from the Texas hospital that handled Thomas Duncan said that it was totally voluntary in terms of whether or not the nurses wanted to care for Ebola patients.

I work on the telemetry unit at my hospital so highly unlikely I will encounter one since the ED sees them first. However, the CDC themselves aren't sure the medium through which it's transferred so they utilize the highest precautions necessary. Tbh, it's just scare tactics at this point with respect to Ebola....you're more likely to pick up a deathly "thing" from the gas pump handles than catch Ebola but fuck do I know.

Makes sense.

Only difference I see is the fact that the fatality rate for Ebola is 50%.

It just seems like too many people are saying there's nothing to worry about, but their actions say otherwise..

Depends on who the "too many people" are, and whether you subscribe to their beliefs. The fatality rate is actually lower compared to other outbreaks, just the rate at which death occurs is quicker, obviously due to the population density where the outbreaks occurred. I'll refer you to Dr. Anthony Fauci, a friend's mentor if you'd like to know more about Ebola
