Powers and abilities

anybody read Guardians of The Galaxy new issue? kinda hinted at how Thanos Drax and Peter Quill escaped the Cancerverse

Shuma-Gorath is an ancient force of chaos, the immortal, nigh-invincible and godlike ruler of nearly a hundred alternate universes, capable of energy projection; shapeshifting; teleportation; levitation; altering reality and sympathetic magic amongst many other feats. He is described as being vastly more powerful than other mighty demonic enemies of Strange such as Satannish, and Mephisto, and as capable of automatically destroying multiple galaxies through aura-pressure alone.

Powers and Abilities

Upon his inception in Marvel Comics by the author Steve Englehart, Shuma-Gorath was portrayed to be the most magically powerful evil god within the Marvel universe. Shuma-Gorath is most powerful in its home dimension as it is omnipotent in every sense of the word, being the realm itself. It is not quite as powerful in its lesser realms and even less so in a realm not belonging to it, yet even in one of its lesser realm its power was stated to make the powerful demons Mephisto and Satannish look like “mice in a great temple”.

Shuma-Gorath is able to travel dimensions freely, invading alternate dimensions and conquering then absorbing them. Shuma-Gorath has revealed that it is ruler of hundreds of dimensions including The Cancerverse.

Shuma-Gorath can phase through objects, levitate, turn into liquid and shape shift into any form it so desires. It also has incredible reality warping powers; however the full scope of its reality warping ability is still unknown.

Unlike many demons, Shuma-Gorath generates its own magical energy without having to gather it from another source. However, it is able to draw magical energy from others if it so chooses. Shuma-Gorath is able to feed off of any kind of energy and drain it from others whether it be magical in nature or otherwise.

Shuma-Gorath has incredible telepathic power and can communicate with and control minds from dimensions away. It can also lend its power to other entities or sorcerers if it so desires. Shuma-Gorath has also been shown to summon hordes of demons to attack enemies if it does not feel like going through the trouble doing the job itself.

Shuma-Gorath has been shown to shoot energy blasts either from its gigantic eyeball or its tentacles. Shuma-Gorath has no real weaknesses to speak of and has only been harmed by the most powerful magic spells and cosmic abstracts. It is unknown whether it can actually be destroyed permanently seeing as how it reformed after what appeared to be certain destruction.

It also has a rubbery and armored hide giving it additional defenses from attacks. Shuma-Gorath’s intelligence pushes omniscience and it could possibly rank among the smartest entities in the Marvel Universe.

Shuma-Gorath’s power is so formidable that it has a variety of chaos lords and other such gods, demons, and sorcerers that willfully do its bidding. During Shuma-Gorath’s reign on Earth the Vishanti had tried to defeat it but were unsuccessful.

Its power in one of its lesser realms dwarfed that of Mephisto and Satannish. The power Doctor Strange absorbed from Shuma-Gorath was enough to destroy galaxies just by being present. The time-traveling sorcerer Sise-Neg did not want to attempt to destroy Shuma-Gorath for fear of losing energy, even after he had absorbed near everything in the Marvel Universe.

It'd be fucked up if they went through real nigga shit Luke Cage gets Monica pregnant and she puts him on child support. she hulk pulls a bitchs weave out in the club.. spidey gets arrested for sellin dope oooo the problems of being a black superhero

ima keep it real yall

I dont like books that are purposely created to appeal to minorities.

I know I know, Avengers and Justice League are practically all white books (never implicitly stated, noticed, or hell even purposely done I bet, subtle as white male privilege is) so why cant minorities get a chance and all that....

But it always seems like that so much effort is put into creating a "flattering and respectable lineup", ensuring the characters are seen as respectable and competent, and ensuring the book is promoted correctly (this usually means putting a writer/editor of minority status on the book).......that alotta the flow that comes with just writing with no idea/mission/sociopolitical statement in mind is missing.

Any artist does their best work when creativity is allowed to flow. These types of book already seem restrictive because they seem centered around trying to make a sociopolitical statement (no matter how just or needed that statement may be).

For example how big of a outcry would there have been if Jaimie Reyes (DC's Blue Beetle) had been a punk Mexican gangbanger in LA instead of a normal, well to do suburban kid from El Paso? A writer couldve had a great plan and solid characterization for as to how cholo blue beetle would've progressed, but what do you think DC was more interested in? creating a "safe"minority character to fight criticism of lacking a diverse superhero stable OR telling good stories? Im thinking the former. I think thats what most publishers go for.

You have to let art flow.

What needs to occur is that artists have to follow this simple rule for minority character creation: create a character/team line up with all of the elements you think will be entertaining/enjoyable......then make them Black/female/gay/jewish/muslim/whatever.

Following that formula in reverse (which most of these types of titles seem to do) contributes to the death of these books (well that and mostly close minded comic book fans lets be honest) because the writers/editors/publishers creative heart wasnt in it in the first place.

Mighty Avengers is a tight book with really good characters that don't normally get as much shine as they do in the 616 MU.

Al Ewing has come correct with tight dialogue and spot on voices for all the characters involved so far and the revelations as to who the "new" Ronin is under the mask, make this a continued must buy for me.

All in all, Mighty Avengers is that feel good book that makes you wanna stay reading the book to see where the characters go.

As far as I'm concerned, this book combined with Hickman's New Avengers/Avengers and Remender's Uncanny Avengers are the definitive books to pick up.

Real talk.

who's the other spiderman?

The Spiderhero cat is going to be revealed as being Ronin but his real identity was accidentally leaked by Marvel a few weeks ago.

I'm not going to spoil things by telling you who he really is though. :)
