I've been thinking about this for a minute..I was looking through Jay's discography and outside of 2 albums I'm not so sure how many Hip Hop classics he truly has. I know for sure that Reasonable Doubt and Blueprint are true Hip hop classics. but besides that you just say "eh" on whether other of his albums could be considered classic. and the word classic is thrown out a lot buy hip hop fans these days. one hot single or a couple of good songs on an album and its classic. anyway..this is just my analysis of his albums..starting from the latest ones..

Blueprint 3..not a Hip Hop classic. we all know this.

American Gangster..good, but not a hip hop classic.

Kingdom Come..Not a classic album. plain and simple.

The Black Album..Very good, but I don't know if you can call this one a classic. It's a Jay-Z classic record but idk about Hip hop classic album.

Blueprint 2..I don't think this a hip hop classic either. got some good tracks, but I don't think its a classic

Dynasty: Roc La Familia...Can you call this a classic album? I don't think so.

Vol 3...this is where it kinda gets tricky..this one has some good tracks..but is it a classic? Idk. maybe its a Jay-Z classic album.

Vol 2...same as Vol 3..maybe a classic Jay-Z record, but idk about a Hip Hop Classic

Vol 1..would have been if not for the diddy contributions.

FYI..I'm a Jay-Z fan just to let ya'll know. I'm just putting this up for discussion.

What do you guys think? How many true Hip Hop classic albums does Jay have?

AG and the Black Album are the only classics ill give Jay. Reasonable Doubt was never that good to me. Blueprint is his most overrated album IMO

Black Album is the only one I can think of. Blueprint was EXTREMELY OVERRATED. I like AG but it's not a classic. Jay-Z doesn't have too many classics bcuz he raps about the same thing all the time, and when he tries to be different (Kingdom Come, Blueprint 3) it doesn't work for him.

I would def say Reasonable Doubt, Blueprint, and Black Album

the fact that he has 3 classics and other albums that are even debatable is extremely impressive IMO

you said to me and imo so ill respect your opinion, but the fact of the matter is reasonable doubt is an undeniable classic, and blueprint i got the same opinion as you even tho i like it, but it will go down as a classic, i think those two are the only ones you can really give him
