I don't even think half of Em's "fans" even know that tape exists. And Em says that rap Elvis bullshit as satire, just like he says he smokes crack and rapes his mother. Anything to get attention.

For the record I hate that song, and most of that album. I can only rock with the other 2 songs I mentioned. But I respect the concepts and his approach, at least he had something to say. But let's look the others for a sec. C4 was doodoo, straight up. Not even the beats and features can save that album. There were only 2 songs he was talkin about shit, and they both sucked. Jay just pretty much raps about money, outside the beats and some slick lines, no one gives a fuck what he talks about. Again, WTT had some good themes, but that was mostly Ye. Ross... please. Agreed. I mentioned Nas already. Also, Lupe. Kanye got better subject matter, but Em is a better rapper. Other than that, no ones really fuckin with him.

And C/S the screaming and corny punchlines. I hated Recovery for that reason. It was clever before, but now... meh. He still knows how to throw together a cohesive verse tho.

First week sales have gotten so inflated because its more about having the CD when it first comes out than actually listening to it.

That and with past reliance on radio/tv for music, you could very well hear an entire album through media for months then buy it, which is one reason why acts were putting up huge overall numbers in earlier times. Albums had deeper runs so to speak.
