Jay lyrically is good. As far as watching him, I don't care for it. I'm not interesting in watching his video's.. or viewing his interviews, nothing. Hsi raps yeah he talented and he ahs doen great, But that is it for me.

I respect his success. I am not a fan.

Never really felt him at all but he has some tracks I like. Never bought an album of his. Never heard a moving verse from him. Not to say he has never dropped some good verses but they never really moved me. D'evils is my favorite track of his though.

This is my personal perspective on Jay-Z throughout my years of being a hiphop fan.

I started getting into hiphop around the turn of the millenium and Nas fast became one of my favourite rappers. Couple this with the fact that I was a young kid in high school and thus a bit immature, I was a bit anti Jay-Z. However, during these years, I couldn't deny that I really enjoyed Reasonable Doubt and I liked numerous other random songs of his.

The main thing though that prevented me from becoming a fan of his was that I could only listen to him in small doses - when I was listening to him rap, I didn't feel like the sound of his voice emphasised the sound of the words that rhymed at the end of lines/bars enough. The rhyming sounds didn't sound that strong if that makes sense.

However, as the years progressed, I couldn't help but enjoy jay-z songs that would turn up whether they were new releases or songs from past albums. The Black Album was enjoyable and more recently I felt that American Gangster was an underrated album.

About a decade later and I now consider myself a Jay-Z fan. The part about not feeling his rhyming sounds enough is something about his voice that took me a while to grow on and become accustomed to, and now I can fully appreciate the sound of his rhymes at the end of lines/bars like there was no issue to begin with. I still think he has a couple of limitations as an artist, but I can't deny that I enjoy a shit load of his songs and albums and furthermore I respect the figure in hiphop that he has been since he entered the game. Also, a lot of the time when an artist has been in the industry for a while and they start off with a classic album, the public starts to feel as though that artist falls off when their style inevitable begins to change. Jay-Z's style is obviously different to Reasonable Doubt nowadays, but I still like it, and I don't think he needed to rely on a gimmick or fad to help him with that. Just good music.

I also thought it was jizz-worthy for hiphop when him and Nas made up in 2005. That moment on stage where they publicly united for the first time sent chills down my back.

My thoughts on Jay-Z now - he's a good artist. I'm a fan.

I've never liked Jay-Z... the first words I heard on the first rap CD I sat down and listened to were "Fuck Jay-Z". I had no choice but to agree.

i NEVER have. he just comes off to me as non-talented, just riding other talented rappers coattails by biting their style. muthafucka STILL bites biggie by using his lines constantly in his songs.

I always thought his monotone, boring, redundant, rapping about absolutely nothing, lying about retiring for the past 8 years ass was wack.

Yet anything less would be considered baseless “hate”

Stop the hate. Jay is nice. And he got that way by battling niggas in every hood. He has been able to survive by finding great producers Kanye and Just blaze....Niggas fail to realize that 90 percent of the rappers came up listening to someone else so u can say everyone took some of someones style. Hes not in my top 5, but hes one of the best to do it and his success is unparalleled as a rapper other than LL cool J. His longevity speaks for itself. Hate it or love it. Even his enemies give him his props

Well if you said the nigga was trash, that wouldnt be accurate. There are plenty of worse rappers in the game. If Gucci and waka flocka can pop off i dont want to hear nothing about Jay...Like i said, he aint in my top 5, but the nigga is nice

I remember when "Ain't No Nigga" came out in '96, and i thought that song was so corny. Vol. 1 had some ok tracks on it but it also had some corny parts to it. Vol. 2 was more of the same IMO. As a rapper he's above average, but he's limited artistically. Some people might not care about that fact because of his numbers, but that diminishes his replay-value and time-stamps his work, I.E. his music isn't timeless and, in some cases, it's disposable. I think he's very overrated.

its hard to call yourself a fan of this dude since after ether. nas ripped that camel fur off of him and he's just a sensitive, self centered, chicken shit. jay z used to be cool. that nigga was dope in them iceberg sweaters and lexuses. jay z used to make that big willie, materialistic shit tolerable. rocafella had that classy signature sound that rick ross practicies. he had a flawless flow and was enroute to forging his flow into a legend until greed took over his heart and sold out in 98. just imagine supporting this nigga first 3 rocafella projects with that killer flow and banging music he dropped and then he pushes a steaming pile of llama laxative called vol 2 onto his fanbase. the minute i saw a camel horseback riding with a midget on the money aint a thang video i knew it was over. DMX was making the callout anthems and NY Bounce music at first. then jay z talking about can i get a whut whut. DMX-Dee/Wah were the niggas that believed and forged Swiss Beats to what he is today. Swizz was sending beats to jay z, big and them niggas turned him down. DMX makes swizz music sound hard now Jay z trying to pimp swizz out trying to sound like DMX all over vol 2. fuck vol 2. he turned his back on the niggas that kept def jam from dropping his bitch ass only because he had jealously issues with DMX. DMX took 98 by the horns. Jay Z was on his way in 97 but i guess he couldnt be patient or respect a nigga making the most out of his moment. vol 2 and forward is where Jay Z feels comfortable with showing his snake like tendicies. nigga arrainged for un to be stabbed. starting shit with mase after mase goes down south. dissing Nas. turning his back on niggas like Jaz, Sauce and Amil, manipulating sales numbers. vol 2 was garbage. i like vol 3 alot. roc la familia was garbage. bp 1 aint no fucking classic. Nas dropped that atom bomb on him and now he just slowly been decaying away with pure wackness. BP 2 is one of the worst hip hop albums ever recorded. a total bore. TBA is overrated as fuck and would be a garbage album if it wasnt for retirement hype around it. he came back and got even wacker. kingdom come was the worst album of the decade. even more horrible than bp 2. american gangster was him putting floaties around his hooves trying to surivie in the pool of the trap rap that the south been pumpin out since 2003-2004. it supposed to be about frank lucas but i could of swore lucas was locked up when crack hit NY. lucas wasnt no fucking roc boy and he sure wasnt trying to sing an winded out of camel breath love song like i know to the bitches. lets admit it AG is wack too.BP 3....smh....fuck bp 3 forreal. bp 3 was a awkward pop album. ESOM was the wackest sofest hometown anthem i ever heard. it make new york seem hipster like and friendly. in 2010 he was on them remixes sounding old still talking about selling drugs 30 years ago. and we all seen how awkward and scarry he was acting in the interview and this nigga talking about he going hard as a motherfucker. do jay z think we supposed to believe that shit? especially now that he has been accepted into D list hollywood circles. he gassed because a bitch who havent had a hit since that movie with the kids choice award guy. he's giddy because a washed up emo rockstar likes his music under heavy sedation of speed and meth. fuck jay z he got issues.
