The Jigga Man Shawn Carter aka JayZ Official Thread...

the problem with Jay is most of his material has been about "I Got More MOney Than You" and "Look At My Swag", "Bling Bling Cristol"

he had potential to make more introspective music but chose the easy way out, thus is why there are alot of people who put Pac, Big and Nas over him.

he needed more heart and soul in his shit....

I think he had a good balance earlier in his career. Now it's like 75% swag and money and shit and 25% substance. Nothing wrong with raping about money and shit, but at least do it from the position of 'Nigga, I got money! But you can get some too!'.

KC worst Jay album, to many throw away beats, lazy production

the production was the main let down, this nigga Dre handed him some throwaways which 50 rejected lmao

Last good Jay album = Black Album.

I do agree with the bolded. Production could have been better. Lyrically and conceptually though, the album was solid. And AG was a pretty good album. BP3 was damn good to me.

Meh, 'Fell off' means you used to be nice and now you're not. I like his older shit better and wish his subject matter reflected that more, but he still spitting today. But he does have the tendency to coast lyrically.

I dont think he felloff more of a change in focus. Most of the time he has one of those kind of songs on a album

naw cant co sign any of them albums....this nigga retired on the black album and then came out of retirement with half ass albums which dont compare to TBA.

his flow is choppy as hell, many of the songs on WTT he was sounding like Larry Holmes

also lets not even get into the song artistry of his music, which is lacking, he sounds like birdman but with better lyrics

his best days are long behind him, u might get a good song here and there, but the complete package never that, everyone falls off musically (i'm not talkin sales), u have ur moment and then it's gone

I agree with the bolded. Can't co-sgn the rest of that. No hate though.

TBA was better than the few before it. Compared to BP2 KC was a pretty good album. Production was iffy but he touched diff subjects fans didn't like it so he went back to what worked for him

truth be told even though BP2 had a mixed bag of dope, good and wack songs, it was hell of alot better than KC...the only problem with BP2 is it shud have ben one album and not a double, he shud have kept the best songs and cut the garbage, he was just trying to get one up on BIG and Pac...but it ddnt work, similar to Nas with SD

KC mainly failed because of the production, TBA has such lovely production that we all expected to be blown away post retirement, ever since then Jay gets more criticism with each release, he never really got back into the swing of things
