The Indy/Int'l Wrestling Thread - ROH Final Battle ‘17, M Dalton Castle def. Cody Rhodes for Title

That Aztec Warfare match was basura. Well the booking of it was, the action was fine.

LU taught you why you can't have two monster heels at the same time. They went through all the trouble building Mil to just kill him in order to build another one. They went through all the effort of building Fenix just to squash him, and like 15 others in one match.

No doubt the big match in the future is Matanza vs Mil Muertes. They are going to do it in a roundabout way by diverting Mil to Pentagon for a few weeks.

Its dope the only thing i didnt like is how they took the title from fenix after a week especially to give it to fuck boy matanza. Dude just doesnt look like the monster hes supppsed to be hes fuckin short

they def. made their champion look weak

Fenix's gimmick is that no matter how bad you beat him like a Phoenix he rises again stronger than ever.....so if lost to Mantanza it's fine cause he'll comeback stronger

Well like homeboy told HHH about Kurt Angle..."Could you beat him in a fight?" Just because he's not tall he doesn't look like a monster? Did you watch that match? Did you see what he did? Jeff Cobb went beastmode. TF?

No they didn't. Seeing as how if you actually watch the match you would see that EVERYONE but Fenix got outta dodge and Fenix(the champion) led the charge bravely(stupidly) and went down fighting. He didn't know what dude was but as Champion knew he had to lead the way. What y'all seem to miss is that this isn't a wrestling show....this a TV show that has wrestling on it. Stop thinking of Lucha Undeground like you would think of WWE, TNA, ROH, or IWGP. It's not the same. They been building this dude MAtanza up for a season and a half as some monster. He came in and did exactly what he was hyped up to do.

Also Matanza coming in opened up a plethora of stories to be told. It's the story they been telling about the 7 aztec tribes from the beginning. This is the evil they have to come together to stop. They've literally been spelling Matanza out for you. You gonna see people have to come together to stop matanza. Also how was Mil killed? Dude got sneak attacked with multiple chair shots, got a dime dropped on him by Rey, had multiple people pile up to get him 3 counted, then immediately popped up to go after Pentagon. Where was the looking weak? They took out the 3 people you would want to see go up against Matanza in that match. Cage, Mil, and Pentagon were all gone before that shit happened.

He lost in like 30 seconds. Lol all that stuff you listed took less than a minute to do. He was gone quick as fuck so Matanza could come out and squash everyone.

Also Fenix got beat by one move. Hell just about everyone did.

So Mil beat Puma and Pentagon by himself

The following week Fenix beat him by himself

Then both Mil and Fenix get killed in Aztec Warfare.

Cage no sold being thrown through a window and could only be stopped with a cinderblock to the skull, compare that to what happened to Mil...no comparison. Mil looked dumb.

Lucha Underground isn't a wrestling promotion, but it has all the elements of a professional wrestling show

they're unique in their approach, but it's still a wrestling show

they tell stories in the ring

they tell stories outside of the ring

they have promos

they have feuds

they have gimmicks

they have championships

and everything gets settled inside the squared circle

does that not sound like a wrestling show to you?

and Fenix still looked weak imo. you admitted yourself his actions made him look stupid. your champion should've been the last one pinned in that circumstance, especially if they were only gonna make his reign a week long. you have to at least try make him look legit

Let's forego time restrictions on the show.

The point was to get him out quick so they wouldn't blow their load on a Mil/Matanza/Cage/Pentagon confrontation so early.(why you think all the stars came out in the first ten spots?) And it was quick as fuck to create the story of Pentagon screwing him over because of Catrina's actions and Mil going after him because Pentagon screwed him over. It's called a screwjob. Mil didn't look weak at all. He looked like someone who got blindsided with a weapon and got ganged up on, then got right back up to chase the one who caused it all.

MATANZA WAS HYPED AS A GOD IN A MORTAL VESSEL SINCE SEASON 1! HE IS THE EVIL THE 7 AZTEC TRIBES HAVE TO COME TOGETHER TO FIGHT!

How did you not know when he came on the scene he would wreck shop? How? How? Are you watching this show man?

Plus you forgetting that most of them dudes was in that match for a while. Especially Fenix who was in since number 1. Only person that looked weak in that match was Cuerno.

And Cage has been no-selling glass since season 1(come on now you'd know that by watching the show) plus that was a subliminal shot at Del Rio.

It's like y'all don't watc this show or understand the universe that this is set in. Stop thinking WWE and start thinking Playstation.

This is not a wrestling promotion. They don't have PPVs, they don't travel, they don't have live events, they not doing a lot of shit other wrestling promotions/federations are doing outside of wrestling. Lucha Underground is a television show with wrestling on it. Stop the madness.

Stupid does not equal weak. The move was made to make Matanza look like an absolute BEAST. Which is what they accomplished by having him eliminate all those people. And how did Fenix not look legit? Because he got beaten by a god in a mortal vessel? Come on now y'all. Y'all still stuck in that WWE/TNA/ROH way of thinking.

You can't have a good face without a mountain of a heel to climb. Fenix gon get a powerup(like he did last season after Mil powerbombed him through that ceiling) like everyone else and come back stronger. This was fantastic story telling. If Fenix was able to go ham against a dude who was that hyped up from the beginning then it would have made Matanza look weak after all the hype and vignettes.

And the only two people that looked like they could do something against Matanza were Rey and Dragon Azteca jr because those were the only two people hyped up in vignettes training to go up against Dario Cueto and whatever evil he was planning in the temple. Trust me, it'll all come together.

Understanding the universe isn't the problem. The problem is putting characters in situations where they look weak and or stupid.

Pentagon wasn't in the match for a reason, they were protecting him. Mil and Cage also shouldn't have been in the match for the same reason.

You could have easily put one of those damn women in there or someone else you aren't trying to push as a monster.

What you have is LU stepping on MIL and Cage to build Matanza instead of keeping them all separate. They could have done run ins like Pentagon did.

Catrina said they don't give auto rematches anyway so that was a good excuse to take Mil out the match.

he could've been temporarily taken out by mil. mil would have every reason to give fenix that work given what happened the week before

put fenix through a table or something

and when fenix finally came to it was only him and matanza left in the match

but why would they do that? that would make sense if it was a wrestling show. but this isnt a wrestling show. its a show with wrestling on it...

Catrina was setting it up to stack the odds against Fenix so he would lose his belt. That's why Mil came out last...sorta like how HHH came out last at the Rumble this year. And why wouldn't he be in the match when it was for the championship he lost the week before? TF?

I did but it was at the expense of a bunch of other guys. Damn near the whole roster got squashed in ONE MATCH. That really makes everyone look like shit.

A GOD IN A MORTAL VESSEL! They've been telling you this since season 1. Matanza is the evil the 7 aztec tribes have to unite against in order to defeat. They've been telling this same story since season 1. This is him. Matanza is the evil they have to fight. Matanza is the God in a mortal vessel. Matanza in spanish literally means massacre. After all the hype if he didn't do what he did it wouldn't have made sense. You don't hype someone up as a monster for 50 episodes to have him come in and not wreck shit. That makes no sense.

Fenix was chilling for awhile in that match too. There's a difference between technically being out there and out there putting in work the whole time.

Cage being hit in the face with bottles, slammed through windows etc make him look great but it makes no sense that he gets beat by any normal means. In which case he should be further along than he is. I remember also him losing in season 1 without all that fuss. Its inconsistency in the booking.

When has ANYONE in a royal rumble-like match that came out number 1 been putting work in all match? Actually now that I rewatch it again he was actually working for most of the match.

Normal means? Since when has catching a cinderblock to the head been any normal means? Nigga lost twice last season to the Mack on surprise bullshit roll-ups that eventually led to him curb-stomping that nigga at Ultima Lucha. He's been immune to glass since the beginning. How is that inconsistency in booking? I think the nigga even got knocked by a pipe one time and got pinned too.

Understanding the universe isn't the problem. The problem is putting characters in situations where they look weak and or stupid.

Pentagon wasn't in the match for a reason, they were protecting him. Mil and Cage also shouldn't have been in the match for the same reason.

Bruh it sounds like you do have a problem understanding the universe and the show specifically. There are flying dragons and men coming down from the cosmos and you asking about folks no-selling glass, but getting knocked by cinderblocks. Why would they have them all in at the same time just to blow that chance on a match later on? They use Aztec Warfare to create and carry on multiple storylines kinda like how they did the same thing last year. Pentagon wasn't in the match to protect him, but also because storyline-wise it made sense. Do you not remember when Catrina said he would regret putting his hands on her in that vignette? I mean they even touched on it at the beginning of the show. If you watched it, you'd know that.

Nobody looked bad AT ALL except for Cuerno. He the only one in this match that got fucked. Everything made sense. It sounds like y'all just got trouble following the story and realizing this ain't your typical wrestling show.

We are typing entirely way too much right now lol. Look if you've been following the story this all makes sense. If you can not look at this as your typical wrestling program it all makes sense. Niggas got killed last season yo lol. Everyone that got throttled will get a powerup, band together, and take Matanza out once and for all. No one looked like a gump out there except for Cuerno.

Did Cena look weak when Brock took him to Suplex City or did it just make Brock look like that much of a monster? It's a comic book universe guys. Think playstation.

Well duh. My point is that Fenix could have lost anyway. Fenix winning or losing is irrelevant to putting Mil in a situation where he came in last and was gone before more than half the field had been cleared.

"Wreck shit," has multiple meaning. Beating people with shitty German suplexes is hardly "wrecking." i don't care that dude won only that everyone looked like shit in him winning.

You were the one trying to use it as justification for Fenix getting dominated.

That nigga got beat by Puma or somebody too last season by regular ass pinfall.

Your argument that i haven't watched the product is repetitive. You wouldn't have to do all this typing if i didn't watch it.

Now back to my point: they all shouldn't be in the match in the first place! If you going to do what they did you could have put other people in that match to take Mil and Cage's spot so they didn't have to get pinned at all.

AW isn't the rumble because nobody gets pinned in the rumble. You got "monsters" taking unnecessary pinfalls instead of keeping them apart and building matches against them later.

Nobody looked bad AT ALL except for Cuerno. He the only one in this match that got fucked. Everything made sense. It sounds like y'all just got trouble following the story and realizing this ain't your typical wrestling show.

Its a typical wrestling program, subject to the same ridiculous booking as all wrestling programs.

It did both actually. It was only passable because it happened to Cena.
