Plus tell me about the pros and cons of desktop vs laptop because my brother said he can make me a desktop for $500 i just would need a monitor

Desktops are generally more powerful than laptops unless u get something high end on the Apple price range

Maybe others can add to this but RAM is very important. The more RAM the better your cpu can handle multiple things at once. I have a lap top with 4GB RAM and it cant do much past browsing/streaming/basic shit. I highly doubt it could run a program like FL Studio or Ableton efficiently especially when u start using plug ins...will lead to too much lag.

As long as u get something with 8GB+ RAM you'll be alright. U can even just google 'music production lap top' for suggestions n what to look for

Desktop pros - u can always update hardware to keep up with technology

Laptop pros - u can take it anywhere with u easily

^^C/S Bolded. Like he said RAM is important as well as a good CPU/processor (i5 or i7). I would recommend 16GB+ of RAM but you can get by with 8GB. I have 24GB in my desktop but I work with a lot of videos, graphic design, audio/production etc.

The biggest difference is mobility. If you're moving/traveling a lot go with the laptop. But it's good to also have a Desktop too.

Damn I thought I was winning having 8 GB RAM on my laptop thinking there's no WAY a PC needs more than that. But I guess it's all about the programs running.

Bruh came in recommending 16GB RAM I couldn't imagine having 12GB RAm

and but you have 24GB RAM!! You PC must be running HELLA comfortable

what kind of computer u working with n what it cost u?

Bought a desktop that had an i7 processor, 8GB of RAM and a 1TB Hard drive for a lil over $700. I added in 16GB of RAM and another 1TB hard drive. (Komplete 10 Ultimate is bout big AF). I Could add/upgrade more but It ain't needed and runs smoothly. It probably would've been better if I got the parts and built one. I just ain't have the time then.

lol! Honestly, I really don't need that much RAM I would be good with 16GB with what I do but I always go the extra mile. lol. My old computer before this one was running on Vista with an i3 and like 3GB of RAM. Trying to make beats/videos/graphics with that thing was hell. Whole computer would restart while opening up a project. LOOOOL!!! I guess I ain't want to go back to that shit so I went all out and got 24GB. lol.

8GB is good. Going to 12GB/16GB is great but There's no need to go over that. But like you said, it depends on what you're doing/what programs you're running.

Could b, u gon prolly want some monitors too, or at least computer subwoofers where u can make the sound flat

Well for now I was doing either or so I was gonna pick the cheaper option: headphones

You Guys think these are good cheap studio headphones?
http://thestatusaudio.com/products/hd1

i look at it like this: if you're going to make music on stereo headphones made for playback, I say go for it. In this case, the best thing for you to do is to use reference tracks. Doin this will help you gauge how your mix should sound coming out of these on a SURFACE LEVEL. Reference your mixes on different types of speakers (i.e., different types of cars, home speakers, bluetooth speaker boxes, hell even a boom box, etc.). You won't have the cleanest mixes, but they'd be good enough for a lot of people.

headphone recommendation: Audio Technica's ATH-M50.

Thanks for the info and one more question if I was to have speakers, what brands should I look into and not look into?
