Did any of you fools learn music theory when you started producing or incorporated that later?

I took extreme basic piano when I was 7 but I'm in piano classes right now once a week. 87 year old dude, once a week on the cheap. He don't need the money so he don't charge much. Amazing how sick he is on the keys at 87.

Nice I wouldn't mind taking a piano class

I picked it up later, but I have a decent grasp of the basics like how to build chords, build melody from root note etc. Just having a book or two on deck with different chord progressions in them and things like that for reference makes the process much easier. Even if you dont know shit you can plug the chords in and see how they sound. You cant copyright a chord progression for the most part. And then once you grasp that most melodies have a chord progression at their core and stay in key its off to the races from there.

Piano is the best instrument to learn as an intro to music theory because piano has the most pitch range than any instrument and the music theory translates to virtually anything.

sure its been asked b4, prlly by me but its been at least a year

any of yall besides brian b ever sent beats to an established or semi established artist?

i like these cats videos, good for beginners, tips to tighten up for some thats been on it a while. i never properly eq'd just figured when i get to a real engineer ill have them do it, but its good to learn bout it, so if i ever do, ill have some input in the mix b4 the master of an entire song

Quick question if I buy a beat from a producers on soundclick that uses a sample.

Does that mean they already cleared it with the original song owner or do I have to clear it?

more than likely they startin out and hadnt cleared nothing, but if they high on the charts or been around a while or something they might have, id just check and make sure if i were u,

Crazy thing is dude has a free download for the beat but den has a untagged lease version for non profit

Normally. the purchaser has to clear the sample, thats how I structure my contracts

same shit i been on, i never reverb the hats tho

A little reverb on the hats can sound real nice from time to time with the high end of the EQ bumped up a little to give it that crispness. Not too much reverb tho, just a lil and of course I like to put reverb on my snares lol

This some new shit right here. Give me some feedback.
