me and the wife been tearing through some movies during our time off

Merantau - The movie Gareth Evans made before 'The Raid' series.Solid action film, the talent was definitely there to see.

Moana - Was cool, i watched it for Dwayne Johnson, his character kept me interested in the film.

Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring - Film following a Buddhist Monk through the seasons of his life from childhood to adulthood.

Our Little Sister - Latest effort from Hirokazu Koreeda, wasn't enough actual drama for my liking and nowhere near as good as his last effort 'Like Father Like Son' which almost had a grown man sobbing.

Girl Interrupted - Really only worth watching for Jolie's performance

The Warrior - stars Irfan Khan as a warrior in feudal Rajasthan who attempts to give up the sword.

The Kite Runner - had to switch it off less than halfway, the novel is my wife's favorite book and she was aghast at how poorly the characterizations were done.refused to watch anymore of it.

The Reluctant Fundamentalist - Thriller starring Riz Ahmed, having read the book it's a pretty decent adaptation.

American Beauty - Not seen it since it's initial release, actually holds up really well.Forgot how much a great character Lester Burnham was.

The Mist - still one of the goat endings to a mainstream american movie.

Black Mirror Season 1-3 - Anthology series in the vein of 'The Twilight Zone' by British write Charlie Brooker, Disturbingly watchable.

Train To Busan - If you fucks with zombie movies then this needs to be added to your queue asap.

Coherence - Trippy minimalist sci-fi movie which i have to admit by the end kind of left me a bit gormless.that's what i love about sci-fi like this though, i don't mind my intellect being pushed if i care about the questions i'm asking to get the answers.

Spotlight - The new age Shawshank.

Miles Ahead - Quite clearly a labor of love for Cheadle but this movie didn't teach me anything about Davis at all.Feels like it had to made in the format it was just to exist.

Masterminds - Zach Galifianakis, Kristen Wiig & Owen Wilson (with a lot of snl alumni on the side) in a heist comedy. Wouldn't recommend it but it had some chuckles here and there.

Take Shelter - One of my favorite movies of the decade.Shannon is a beast and this is imo his best performance so far.

@lazypakman Miles Ahead wasn't a biopic at all and was mostly fictional... you wouldn't learn shit about him in this film. I loved it all the same and will buy the DVD

I recently just found out he was a sickle cell carrier through my sibling who also is a carrier...

I just watched the neal brennan stand up called 3 mics. It was pretty cool how he did it. On the stage are 3 microphones. On one he does strictly one liners. On another he does his regular comedy routine. Then on the 3rd mic it turns into a one man show. Not exactly comedy, but he tells the audience about himself and his personal life. Naturally even though it's very serious, there are still laughable moments In his story the way he delivers the story.

For anyone who doesn't know, neal brennan was the writing partner of dave chappelle for many years. They started on half baked aND were co writers on chappelles show.

I fucked with this movie heavy, you want to give me your initial thoughts on what you thought was happening in the end?

I will try to keep it to just my thoughts on the ending, there is a lot to talk about, I am sure everyone picks up different clues through out the movie...

Classic battle of good vs evil, he just needed to put his faith into what the lady in white (angel/divine spirit) was saying, she was trying to save his fam's souls, I honestly thought he was going to wait it out but he didn't, easier to say that as the viewer cause we already know certain things and that he should probably listen. Ironically he did not believe in divine spirits and saving souls, not sure he even comprehended what was happening in that moment even though he had no problem buying into demonic spirits and using a Shaman earlier...

Then the Shaman who was working with the demon/old Japanese guy all along came and stole their souls via the camera as they died. Not sure what trap the lady in white set or if there was even one. The daughter was going to murk them all regardless imo. Homie in the cave went in and never came out lol...

So many layers to this movie tho and a lot can be interpreted differently depending on the clues you pick up and I am 100% sure there are no real answers here. Funny that the main character kept asking why and received different but true answers. Anyways to sum it up the last 20 mins is bananas a lot of wtf is going on, not sure who to trust, the wife and I thought for sure the lady in white was the demon although nothing but the process of elimination would bring you to that conclusion, similar to what police do lol Brilliant movie!...

If you've seen one Bond film, you've seen them all. After watching this movie I realized that all Bond films are pretty much the same and you just have to be a fan of the character to really enjoy the movies.

Exquisite European locales

Gorgeous cars

Musclehead villain

Beautiful damsel in distress

Talkative, megalomaniac villain

Doomsday device

Bond goes through the whole film with one scratch after 100 explosions

Random sex scenes

Its all there. It was a little long, not as good as Skyfall but not as bad as I've heard it was either.

Really good movie. Bruce Willis plays a washed up drunk cop who only had 1 job and managed to fuck it up. Mos Def plays a criminal in over his head. Its worth a watch if you're a fan of Willis.

Think Training Day but with the C.I.A and not nearly as iconic or funny. Still an okay flick but Ryan Reynolds is really...like not good. He sucks in everything except Deadpool. Unc saved the movie from being worse.

Pierce Brosnan pretty much plays James Bond in everything but he's the villain here, that's different at least! Its not a bad movie, in some ways its good but not really good.

I'm familiar with the original story of 47 Ronin so I enjoyed it for that and the special effects were cool.

Its like someone watched Clash of the Titans and decided to copy and paste it with a mostly Japanese cast.

Still its a solid story if you can deal with Reeves, whom I dislike loads outside The Matrix. The way they shoe horned a white man into the story was unnecessary but it actually comes across well in the end where he basically proves himself. It was cool.

pretty much what you said man, good vs evil, the lady in white could be seen as the protector of the village who was there to keep the spirits away, her trap wasn't explained but it was more than likely to use the daughter as bait to lure the demon out as he was always weak in her presence.

definitely no clear cut explanation for everything and could be interpreted a dozen ways like you said, i've read quite a few theories, i mean shit look at this one

''To me the movie is a struggle of civilized life. The quote from the bible in the beginning is asking the question of the movie. How can something be flesh and spirit?

But it can be asked differently.

How can someone be body and mind?

In the beginning of the movie we see a stranger (japanese man) putting bait on a hook. Until the end the stranger is suspect of magically making all the killings that happen in the village. But no one is able to do smth. And the killing goes on until the daughter of the policeman is affected by it.

My view of the movie is that it is about life. And in ancient times there were two phrases for life. Bios and Zoe. Bios means political life with rights and Zoe means buttnaked life with no rights like animals. It (Zoe) is called Homo Sacre. Holy life. People who were decreased into Zoe could be killed or exiled from society unpunished but they mustn´t be sacrificed. This is important to release pressure in society.

In a democratic society or better capitalist-democratic society everyone becomes equal and therefore they are both Bios and Zoe or just consumers. And now comes someone or something that exploits that (the stranger). Knowing that he will not be killed because they are trapped in their morality.

Imagine this scenario in ancient times. The people of the village would have went to the oracle and the oracle would have told them to kill the stranger in the beginning of the movie and all the suffering/wailing would have been prevented.

The scene when the policeman gathers his buddies and tries to kill the stranger is just pure barbarism and that is why they failed. Struggeling with morality and loose focus on the task (the stranger escapes). They also failed in the ritual because they must have been able to sacrifice the daughter for the higher purpose.

The nameless woman is pure bios and the antipode of the shaman who represents pure zoe (he is called a monk and can be considered exiled). That is why she has so much power over him. Both alone cannot go up against the existing threat because they negate each other and we see people running around headless with no idea what to do and how to act. And in the end it is revealed through the priest or decan who the stranger really is. Meaning that in the social structure of bios and zoe there must be some third installement of higher executive power which will see things for what they are. For that the nameless woman is referring to some grandma. Also meaning the higher executive power is someone who can be trusted with no doubt. In ancient times it was called oracle.''

this movie really was on some next level shit.

extinction- pretty good zombie flick. worth checking out.

the rezort- decent zombie flick.

taboo esp 3- hardy is carrying this show on his back. hardly anything else about it makes it worth watching.
