Carol with cate blanchett and rooney mara. Movie was cool, a tad boring. Cate blanchett did her thing as usual. I can see why rooney mara got nominated for best supporting actress but i woulda took emily blunt's performance over it.

I wanted to enjoy this movie because I love Cate Blanchett but I could not get passed the first 30 min...tad boring was an understatement for me lol.

I did watch and enjoyed the movie Joy this weekend.

Lol did you watch it at home or in the theater? I saw it in the theater (i shoulda saw it home but whatever) so it kept my attention. There was a lotta subtleties and undertones in it that you're not really checking for so that's why it's kinda boring...It does get better in the 2nd and 3rd acts tho if it's any consolation.

THE REVENANT

Hell of a film. A film of revenge. perseverance. This shit was very gritty tense and intense that shit came through the screen i felt this film. The struggle told the story. Much more than the limited dialogue thats part of the beauty in it.

Saw this before it came out but forgot to post.

STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON

Just watched this today. This was much better than i anticipated hell of a film.. and ill take back my comments scoffing at the idea that this should receive Oscar consideration. It take me back to a time when Rap was catching hell from political figures and the most infamous crime of police brutality of that time. Which at the time i was aware of being 11. This summer i went in the crates on Ice Cube and NWA as i was too young at that point. But yeah this joint can be seen as part history, part social bookmark, part coming of age film. It was pretty long but i didn't feel like i suffered through it it was a good watch.

The man in the high castle - Great and original concept , slow build up. Stellar acting by the main charachters especially the main villain. 4 episodes deep..i'll def finish this next week.

The Big Short at the cinema with my sis (it's my birthday today)

Good film. It mixed humour with harsh economic reality and focused on a couple of guys who saw what no other person saw or just basically ignored

Christian Bale got nominated for an Oscar here but the best performance here IMO is Steve Carell; he worked on both sides of the fence (banks and hedge funds/private traders/investors). There's a scene where he's interviewing a stripper in Vegas and she tells him she has 5 (!) homes and a condo.. . Hahahaha

I liked the film even more 'cos I remember the 'crash' like it was yesterday. I didn't understand a lot of the financial terms and terminologies but I understood there were bullshit anyway and it was just one big bubble waiting to burst

4/5

The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies. Just from word of mouth I was expecting it to be bad, but not this bad. Waste of two bucks. Was damn near ready to skip battles because of all the slo mo zoom-ins.

Sicario. Great movie. Opening had me tense as hell with swat going in that house. Actually, whole movie was tense. Didn't feel nothing like two hours. Was all in the screen when they were going in the tunnels. Need to rewatch with some headphones.

Nigga they showing thin line between love and hate on tv and goddamn i forgot how bad Lynn whitfield was in this shit and how funny martin used to be.
