Garfunkel and Oates - Sucks that it got cancelled, but I thought it was good. Would say it's in line with being a L.A. based Flight of the Conchords. Liked it more than that show though.
K - Anime. Wouldve been great if it focused on the interesting stories instead of halfassing all of them. Thought the whole idea of the kings/living gods running a country was interesting, especially since it started off with two of them looking like they were going to war. Couldve been the whole series right there. But nope. Flash foward to one guy in jail, all of his people on the street and nobody really caring, the writers included. Arguably the strongest guy in the whole show riding the bench for 90% of the season so we can get a murder/mystery courtesy of amnesia plot. A plot that you won't care about by the time things reach the end because there's just not enough explaining of the interesting stuff. Upside, had a slick look and some good music here and there.
Blue Exorcist - Anime. Was okay. Felt pointless halfway through since everything boiled down to waiting for Son of Satan to draw is sword.
The Irregular at Magic High School - Anime. Skip. Idea of magic being tied to technology was really interesting, but not enough for me to recommend another show with the main character rocking the godmode cheat. Was nice that it didn't make the second-stringers completely useless.
No Doubt - Really stupid movie. Guy gets accused of kidnapping/killing another guys daughter, but at no point does he speak up for himself. Literally could've ended the whole movie by walking them through what happened, but that'd make to much sense. Ruins everybody's lives instead. Kinda hoping there was something missing in the translation.
The Pirates - Terrible. Just to much going on for me. Pirates got to me early on. Take issue with the captain being a pirate and killing people, but have no issues with ruining their livelihood; destroy a large part of a city and their aqueduct with no fucks to give, burst into tears when the military cracks up a few villages. Then there's all the revenge subplots. And the whale swallowing. The bad comedy. Some of the cgi. The random superstition. smh.
Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet - Weird anime. Really imbalanced. Starts off dark, with a human v. aliens war. Main gets sucked into a wormwhole and ends up on Earth going through a Waterworld phase. Gets really dark when he kills some people without a second thought, followed by a short comical big-bad showing up, then it's all slow burning drama/romance/comedy. Then back to being dark again at the end. Ending was meh, but the lead up to it just put me off. Like halfway through they got word they wouldn't get a second season so they pumped out the violence.
Turn - Interesting show. I like the setting more than I like anything that actually going on. Should be about a doublespy doing doublespy things. Too much time trying to make me care about said doublespy cheating on his wife.
The Devil Is a Part-Timer! - Anime. Enjoyed it a lot even though it doesn't feel like it's going anywhere. Satan gets sent to a new Earth and gets a job at McDowells. Has to deal with his girlfriend/nemesis who works at Lerizon, and a ..inquisition church guy who works at JFC. ..Those names are wrong, but the real ones are just as ridiculous in show. Gotta check if there's a manga. See if the devil takes over the world stuffing people full of Big Micks. lol.
