"This is the best deal you're going to get. I won't tell you that you can save yourself, because you can't".

Anton Chigurh, one of my favorite characters ever. The random dialogue he had during the film was goat.

NYMPHOMANIAC: Director's Cut (Parts I & II)

Man I'm not gonna say much about this film. The only word I'd use to describe it is 'bold'

Directed by Lars Von Trier, it tells the story of a woman who's obviously a nympho from her teens to middle age

Since this was the director's cut, it featured lots of imagery of sexual organs and nudity and also real sex (some with fake organs and stand in pornstars)

Besides the sexual part of the film there were brilliant performances from all the actors and a good story.

Photography and editing was excellent as well...

4/5

I also saw two movies with far Eastern influences

The Raid: Redemption (Indonesia).. ultra violent movie released in 2011 about a SWAT raid on an apartment block housing criminals that turns disastrous. The violence was extreme but had that pulp element as well and the martial arts was impressive.. I thoroughly enjoyed it

3/5

Only God Forgives (Thailand) .. starring Ryan Gosling as an American drifter in Bangkok who suffers consequences over his brother's misdemeanour and attracts the attention of a cold killing police chief (dude was cold AF!!!) who slaughters his enemies with a sharp ass machete

Watch out for Gosling getting his ass beaten the shit out of towards the end

The photography was in shades of blue and red and slow paced

3/5

Saw Hercules, with Dwayne Johnson, Gandalf amongst others.

had bad reviews, but I enjoyed it maaayne. Simple, entertaining story about the differences between man and legend. Some straight up comedy in it as well, had its moments. Bro that could see the future was hilarious af.

Gone Girl, Nightcrawler, Interstellar & Apocolypse Now.

All are must-see films. Fucking great.

This shit has a documentary of the making. It was war in itself getting that film made. Martin Sheen had a heart attack during filming; there was a typhoon that destroyed sets and shit.. etc

Made me appreciate Coppola as a GOAT filmmaker

I just ordered the documentary off amazon.

Guardians of the galaxy.....Rocket n Groot were both cool af. Solid n fun watch. But not as good as the internet made it out to be.

stallone-cobra.jpg

Saw this last night recorded on my Sky box.

Released in '86, this was the movie Stallone wanted Beverly Hills Cop to look like (since he was offered the lead role but passed)

It was scripted by Sly and it had that whole 80s swag with it. Last time I saw it was on a VHS tape many years ago.. .

It looks dated but enjoyable nonetheless

I also saw

The Notorious Bettie Page.. mini biopic about the real life model who was famous in the 50s for provocative (nude) poses in men's magazines and who also sparked an inquiry by the US Senate into her growing popularity . .

Jarhead.. true life story about a US marine played by Jake Gyllenhaal who is sent with his platoon of soldiers to a Saudi Arabian desert in preparation for the 1st Gulf War but becomes increasingly frustrated when he sees little to no action (killing people).

It was made in comedic form. Jamie Foxx is funny as the commander of platoon and is director Sam Mendes' 3rd feature..

Palo Alto.. directed by Francis Ford Coppola's granddaughter, this is the tale of some teens in a Californian suburb going through adolescence American style.. drugs, sex, alcohol and the teacher/student sexuality gets noted here too

Based on short stories written by James Franco and starring him and a small cameo by Val Kilmer

Lone Star (1996) starring Chris Cooper, Elizabeth Pena (RIP), Kris Kristofferson, Joe Morton, Ron Canada, Clifton James, Frances McDormand, and Matthew McConaughey. Man this movie is kind of slow but ends up being well worth it and ends up being a total mindfuck. It's set in Texas near the Mexican border where Chris Cooper stars as Sam Deeds the local sheriff who is totally overshadowed by the reputation and memory of his father Buddy Deeds (played in flashbacks by McConaughey). But when a skeleton turns up at the Army's rifle range Deeds' uncovers numerous town secrets in his search for the identity of the skeleton and what happened to him. Also delves pretty deep into the White-Black-Mexican race relations from many years ago in the flashbacks. 8.5/10.

Boyhood

This movie tells the story of a boy name Mason as he grows into adolescence and the journey that he goes through with family, friends, relationships. It's approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes and was filmed over 12 years. It had a great supporting cast, chemistry, story and basically a character that everyone can relate to. Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette play the parents that are separated and it chronicles the development of the whole family including the sister and so forth through the eyes of Mason. Solid movie 9/10.

just watched this it was dope

Watched that Michael Bay Turtles flick the other day. Shit sucks.

Watching Leaving Las Vegas now.

I might check out The Imitation Game in the next couple of weeks.
