Bout to set aside 4hrs today to finally watch "once upon a time in america" .

Watched OUATIA last night, it wasnt as good as I thought it would be, but its a solid film. Was most of the flim an opium dream? @ whoever seen the film.

Isn't there like 3 versions of Once Upon a Time in America? I heard the original is like 269 minutes and the director hated the one that was released in American theaters which is only 139 minutes and put the film back in chronological order.

GRADE (B +) Based on the Japanese Manga by the same name is the Korean cult Classic "Old Boy". The film was directed by Pak Chan Wook and staring Hwang Jo-woog. It's about a alcoholic business man who is kidnap and forced against his will to stay in a hotel prision room with no contact with the outside world for 15 years. Then out of nowhere he is let free only to find out there is a deeper more sinster reasoning behind his imprisonment. Amazing film. Well acted. Love the editing and style. The story is just messed up on so many levels. The Anime was way tamer looking back but the movie captured the vibe perfectly. The Hallway scene and the Hammer action was crazy. The Plot twist was just shocking and really messes with your mind. It's a great "Revenge" movie as you watching you are feeling the main character is getting "Revenge" but it's really story of the villain getting "Revenge".

GRADE ( C ) - The Legend himself is back, Spike Lee directs an all-star cast with John Brolin, Samuel L Jackson, Sharlto Coopley and Elizbeth Olsen. I thought it was a pretty good Americanize version for the remake. But the biggest reason I give it a C grade is I felt Spike just did a paint by the numbers remake and didn't really add much. Visually the movie was great as well as Brolin performance. Some differences from the Korean film are the location obviously where the story takes place. Also the ending
He actually goes back to the prison after he found out he has sex with his own daughter cause he couldn't live with himself
. But I did enjoy this remakes so Spike still did a pretty good job on it. Also I do think he improved on the Hallway scene as Brolin's fight skills were very sharp.

The_Counselor_Poster.jpg

GRADE (B) The Legendary Director Ridley Scott and the Legendary Author Cormac McCarthy of "No Country for Old Men" writes his 1st major film screenplay with "The Counselor". It has an amazing ALL-STAR Oscar Winning and Nominated cast with Michael Fassbender, Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Brad Pitt and Cameron Diaz. The story centers around Lawyer with a top track record of getting big time criminals off who finds himself in a sticky situation when he decides to get in on a Drug Trafficking Deal when one of his former clients convinces him to get involved and make the money "You deserve". After proposing to his girlfriend (Cruz) and wanting to give her a better life he decides to get in, but the story takes a dark turn when The Counselor makes a crucial mistake with one of his clients. Now the film flopped at the box office and got pretty bad reviews but I loved this movie. It was so abstract and the cast brought some amazing performance. Michael and Penelope were great as couple. Javier was completely insane in this performance. Cameron Diaz almost steals the movie with her wild seductive performance. Brad did his thing too as the Wise drug dealer.

All the characters dialog is very interesting also as they talk while giving The Counselor some amazing advice and life lessons. But it was the themes in the dialog that made it so good. Each character even the drug dealers and cartel members always had something philosophical to say. What I enjoyed is they don't spell everything out for you about the characters. This is just an isolated story where 5 people lives connect and end up in a terrible situation. The ending was so raw you will be completely shocked by what happens to the characters. Yes it's a slow build up the 1st hour but by the end you are just floored by what happen to The counselor. What's funny is in the end it seems everyone was actually Counseling him instead of the other way around. Give it 10-15 years, this film will achieve cult status.

i caught ride along all late on dvd last night and i went in expecting to see stupid comedy/action and not having to worry about the plot making sense and thats exactly what i got and it still sucked

movie wasted 90 minutes of my time and im not gonna waste a couple more minutes talking about it

caught True Grit with Jeff Bridges.. not bad at all. had at least 2 highly trill as fuck scenes that made it worth it

watched Sinister... yea. when I want to watch a horror movie thats what the fuck i'm talking about.

Silence of the Lambs. Great movie. Everything about it was tense. Just Clarice walking down that hall to visit Lector had me leaning back thinking somebody cell was gonna be open because that doctor was that kind of asshole. Been in my head for years because of all the references to it, but I'm kinda surprised none of them spoiled the movie. Past the 'lotion' and Buffalo Bill dancing scene, didn't remember a minute of it. Police and good samaritans losing all over the place.

Gravity. Made the mistake of listening to part of a review on a random podcast so I knew how some of it went. Glad that I didn't agree with the end opinion of it though. Though it was good. Definitely beautiful.

A History of Violence. Was enjoying it up to the halfway point, when they gave up on the mystery. Bad guys just seemed too stupid at the end, especially after the build up like they were ready to put the screws to the guy's daughter or something. Turns out they're just that extra kind of dumb villain, who thinks bullets only kill people if you're standing right next to them. And just to make sure you knew the bad guys were walking around with empty sacks, they had the boss(who had a pretty good reason for wanting the guy dead) looking out for the daughter when she got lost. Then they pick the son up and drop him off on some friendly neighbor nonsense. I'm sitting there wondering why the kid didn't have her hands chopped off and mailed on some Oz shit. Not like the movie was shy with the gore. Not something I could recommend.

Saving Private Ryan. A whole lot better than I remember. In my head I kept it on a list with Gladiator, good for just the opening, then it falls off a cliff. Turns out it's great. Was into it the whole way through.

About Last Night. Really enjoyed it. A little heavy on Kevin Hart at the end, but he was good in this.

Watched Non-Stop last night and the first 3/4 of the movie were good but man did that shit fizzle out with a weak and bizarre ending. They really pissed away a nice plot/concept. Felt Anson Mount and Julianne Moore's characters were basically wasted as well.

Watched oculus and non stop. Unimpressed by both. Oculus takes too long to get on and once I figured out exactly how it was gonna end with 20 mins left I just started fast forwarding.

Non stop. Semi interesting thriller. My nigga liam did his thing like he always does. Figured 2 of the 3 people that were involved immediately upon their appearance in the film. Decent action and it kept a steady pace all the way through but wasn't as good as people said it would be.

There were only two people involved though right??? The black war veteran and the dude that asked Liam for a light at the beginning.

And his partner the other air marshall. (Even tho he was just a duck and not teamed up with them) They actually caught me with black dude. Didn't see that coming.

220px-X-Men_Days_of_Future_Past_poster.jpg

GRADE (B +) Bryan Singer the director of "Usual Suspects, X1 and X2" returns to the franchise in "X Men Days of future Past". The film acts as a sequel to both "X Men: The Last Stand", "The Wolverine" and "X Men: 1st class". So it was basically X4 and 1st Class II. The movie actually starts in the future with Wolverine, Professor X, Magneto and Storm as well as some other X men as they fight off Sentinel Robots who were programmed to destroy them. We also get an appearance for legendary X Men Character time traveler Bishop. Professor X then has a plan for someone to go back in time and prevent the sentinel program from ever beginning. Because of Wolverine healing power he is the only one that can do it. I think the movie was great cause the story was strong.

I really enjoyed the movie and it's one of the best comic book films instantly. Wish there was more future scenes with the older cast but again the concept was great. The action was done when needed to advance the story. Quicksliver scene was wild and he almost stole the movie. Wish he had a bigger role. The acting was just great for a comic book film. Michael Fassbenger, Jennifer Lawerence and James McAvory all did amazing reprising their roles from 1st Class. The ending really tied everything together in the franchise. It's my fav X-men movie next to "X2" and "1st Class". Also the ending credits scene was wild. Can't wait for "X Men" Apocalypse.

So I went down south for the Memorial Day Holiday and decided to have a little Sci-Fi Anniversary Day:

220px-StarWarsMoviePoster1977.jpg

1977-2014 (37th Anniversary) GRADE (A + CLASSIC) The Iconic Legendary film that started it all "Star Wars" retitled "A New Hope" in the early 80's turned 37 years old. So I watched the VHS THX set version of it (Before all the Lucas changes). The movie holds up very well. It's the story of a Luke Skywalker and his adventurous journey in space. Mark Hamil, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher were great in the roles. James Earl Jones Vader voice was perfect. The action and effects were ground breaking and head of their time. It's just the perfect movie. Even though it produced two great sequels in "Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi". I feel "Star Wars" can actually work as a stand alone movie. All the way to the end when they get their medals (Though Vader did escape). Great movie and it has stood the test of time.

TheAbyss.jpg

1989-2014 (25th Anniversary) GRADE (B+) James Cameron dropped this deep sea sci-fi epic "The Abyss" after his legendary run of dropping "Terminator" and "Aliens". This is about a deep sea oil rig crew who is sent on a nuclear submarine rescue mission. But as they go deeper they found out there is more to the bottom of the ocean than we think. I saw this film growing up in the 80's of course but watching as adult was way better. The movie had a lot of great scenes and themes. The acting was great by Ed Harris, Michael Beihn and Mary Elizabeth Manstrantino. The deep sea scenes felt so realistic you thought you were really under there. I think this is probably James Cameron's most under-rated movie. As for them finding "Aliens" or that underwater speices, I think that's realistic. The Ocean is so large and expansive we don't know what's truly down there. But 25 years later, this movie clearly stood the test of time. Great film.

don jon starring joseph Gordon levitt , scarlett johannson and tony danza- judging from the trailer I thought this movie would be a comedy it was more of a bromance film or a chick flick film for guys. I don't know what message the movie was trying to send either. the movie was about a bartender who had no problem getting chicks but he had a serious addiction to porn. he gets the girl he goes after(scarlett) but she turns out to be a bitch(they break up when she catches him watching porn). he hooks up with an older depressed chick in a night class who teaches him the value of meaningful sex. I guess that's the message of this movie. I rate this movie between a c+ or a b- . it was cool to see these type of stories being told from a guys perspective. when I mean guys I mean the average joe not that sappy looking for love romantic movie stereo type. also scarlett jo was sexy as ever especially with a jersey shore accent.

son of batman- I downloaded it on ps3 last night and i'll rate it a b+ although it could have been an A i'll get to the why of this later on. as with most dc animated features the animation and action was solid as well as the story. it was cool to see damian wayne animated. the fight scenes were on point and deathstroke did his thing and also a supprise appearance from nightwing. It seemed like there wouldn't be any other robins in this movie. heres why I didn't give this movie an A the fight between deathstroke and batman was overwhelming. the fight was too brief and batman knocked him down with ease because it was actually damians fight. the fight between him and damian was longer. actually damian stole the show this kid has much skills being trained by the league of assasins. also I expected to film to follow the comic book storyline a little more and have tim drake in it as well .I just expected more from a showdown with deathstroke and batman so b+ it is

I just bought a bootlegged copy of 300 rise of an empire from a mom and pop dollar store. they usually have good quality. i'll be back with a review for that later.
