Even though Murphy basically begged for Pryor and Redd to do it because they were his heroes, Redd apparently kept arguing about the script, getting drunk and going off looking for hookers he'd bring back to the set.

Pryor, same deal, include cocaine and arguing over money because he was paranoid as fuck Eddie might fire him.

I wonder what the original script was actually like that got them involved in the first place.

Yeah, but lots of movies have crazy backstories like that. The way people talk about that movie though, you'd think it sucks.

You can't judge a comedian's value by their parts in tv shows/movies. Seinfeld's show is classic, but I've always thought his standup was garbage. On the flipside, none of Chris Rock's movies are as good as his standup.

Seinfeld has some good stand-up. He's just clean.

I've never actually seen Seinfeld's standup. I'm going by the clips they used for the show, and none of those were ever funny to me.
