Wally West is racing to The CW’s hit DC Comics series, The Flash, as Keiynan Lonsdale joins the cast as a new season two regular!

The small screen DC Universe continues to expand today with the announcement, straight from DC Comics proper, that The Divergent Series star Keiynan Lonsdale has joined the cast of The CW‘s hit series, “The Flash.” Lonsdale will play none other than Wally West in the show’s second season!

Wally West, who made his first appearance in 1960’s “The Flash” #110, was created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino. The nephew of Iris West (played on the series by Candice Patton), Wally West became, in the comics, the Kid Flash after an accident similar to the one that befell Barry Allen. Later on, Wally West wound up taking on the identity of The Flash himself following DC’s Crisis on Infinite Earths.

“Just like when we met Grant [Gustin] for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero,” says Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg. “We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show.”

Wally West is far from the only familiar comic book character set to appear in “The Flash” season two. Following a pretty epic first season finale, the series has revealed that it will explore the multiverse and will introduce another famous speedster when Teddy Sears (“Masters of Sex,” “Raising the Bar”), guest stars as Jay Garrick. Best known to comic book readers as the original, Golden Age Flash, the character’s iconic hat made a brief appearance in the season one finale.

Based on the characters from DC Comics, “The Flash” is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television. The series returns for season two on Tuesday, October 6, at 8/7c on The CW.

I always wonder how they gonna mention that Joe has another child out there that Iris or Barry didn't know about

I'm thinking he'll be another relative (Joe's nephew or cousin) or they will take advantage of the time continuum to introduce a son to Joe...

isn't wally supposed to be flash's nephew and not brother in law?

Nah more like Iris' nephew, but like somebody said they might just reshaped his background and chacracter to either being Joe's nephew or his legit son in an alternate timeline/universe

Man some of those whiteboy fans are so pissed about the Wally change it's hilarious. "His personality, the red hair, everything is gone just to please the pc crowd" I seriously hate those types of comic nerds they give a bad name to everyone.

Wally West is black in the comics though. Now if Iris West is black doesn't that make Bart Allen biracial too?

they went with the Nick Fury route(He was originally white in the comics generations ago) route for Iris West on the show

Dope.

So Barry is finally getting the white emblem.

I wish Garrick's lightning was yellow but it's just a minor nitpick the costume is much more faithful than I ever imagined it would be otherwise.

The Flash adds a new villain and hero

Casting continues for the upcoming second season of The Flash, and now two more have joined the series as both a hero and a villain.

TVLine reports that newcomer Violett Beane will play the female speedster Jesse Quick. The daughter of the golden age character Johnny Quick in the source material, for the series she’s described as “a brilliant but quirky college student who gets caught up in the battle between The Flash and Season 2’s big bad, Zoom.”

Comic Book also brings word on casting with the inclusion of Demore Barnes (“12 Monkeys,” “Hemlock Grove”) as Henry Hewitt, AKA the villain Tokamak. In the comics, the character has energy absorption powers and was a manipulative businessman; for the series he’s described as “a charming, but cocky scientist who was affected by the same Particle Accelerator explosion that created the Flash. When Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) recruits him to join the team at S.T.A.R. Labs, Hewitt jumps at the opportunity to fulfill his destiny as a powerful meta-human.”

In addition, EW reports that Malese Jow is set to reprise her role as reporter-turned-love interest Linda Park for a few episodes in the new season.

The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash, Candice Patton as Iris West, Rick Cosnett as Eddie Thawne, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon and Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West. It’s executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, David Nutter and Sarah Schechter.

Following the defeat of Barry Allen’s arch-nemesis Eobard Thawne (aka Reverse Flash), Team Flash quickly turned their attention to the singularity swirling high above Central City, which fans last saw consuming everything in its path. Armed with the heart of a hero and the ability to move at super speeds, Barry charged into the eye of the singularity, but will he actually be able to save his city from impending doom?

The Flash will premiere its second season on Tuesday, October 6 at 8 p.m. EST.

Tony Todd will voice Zoom in the second season of The Flash

TonyTodd.jpg

In the aftermath of the events of The Flash‘s dramatic season one finale last May, it sounds like we’re going to be seeing a major update of the Reverse-Flash. Variety today reports that the character, now known as Zoom, will not only receive a physical makeover, but will be voiced in season two by the legendary Tony Todd.

“Last year, with the Reverse-Flash, we just modulated Tom Cavanagh’s voice,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg tells the outlet, “and this year we wanted to do something a little bit different. Part of the mystery of the season is who or what is underneath the Zoom outfit, and so we wanted to do something like James Earl Jones as Darth Vader — this iconic voice coming out of this mask. Last year, we thought of the Reverse-Flash as a speed warrior; this year, Zoom is like a speed demon, and no one does demon-voice better than Tony Todd.”

A prolific actor with nearly 200 credits to his name, Tony Todd has starred in films like Oliver Stone’s Platoon and Michael Bay’s The Rock. He’s also well known for horror franchises like Candyman and Final Destination. What’s more, Tony Todd is no stranger to DC Comics. In addition to appearing on “Smallville” in 2011, Todd has voiced Darkseid in multiple LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes animated features.

“The Zoom outfit is much more organic than the Reverse-Flash suit,” Kreisberg teases of what we’ll see when the character makes his re-introduction in episode 2×02, “Flash of Two Worlds.” “In a way, it’s hard to tell if it is a suit or alive… There’s no skin showing, for all you know there’s a robot underneath, or dark energy.”

Tony Todd is like the Black Clancy Brown. Two of the GOAT most intimidating movie or TV voices and it's so dope that they're both on this show.

I have such a big shit eating grin on my face right now.

This is unbelievable. Never thought I'd ever see a live action Jay Garrick. Smallville was as close as we got and it was a glorified cameo at best. I just wish the bolt was yellow. His suit needs more color.
