And this is why I'm a fan of flash.

Who's the dude in the wheelchair?

He may be Jay Garrick in this show.

No way in hell that's Jay Garrick.

My theory:

Eddie Thawne is clearly based on Hunter Zolomon which for anybody who doesn't read comic books was Wally West's Reverse Flash. Down to being a cop with keystone city origins. my hunch is that he is an ancestor of Eobard Thawne (Barry Allen's Reverse Flash) in this continuity.

Maybe when Grodd shows up he will still end up paralyzed and then become a reverse flash like Zolomon in the comic. But I do see him as a red herring in the sense that he won't be the reverse flash who killed Nora Allen.

That could still be Eobard Thawne speed force obsessed scientist and Flash fanboy from the future who is now a descendant of Eddie. Except this time he's taken the alias Harrison Wells to throw the fanbase off. The same way that instead of Dinah Laurel Lance being the Black Canary in the Arrow show they made up a sister for her to carry that mantle which threw expectations off and kept fans on their toes.

As to why Eobard will travel back in time and pull off an elaborate scheme? that is a question I've seen a lot of people ask and one that shouldn't be hard to answer if they read comic books; that is part of his MO. He has tried to secure the past to ensure his own future many times. If the Flash doesn't exist neither does Professor Zoom.

In this case he likely needed to ensure that flash becomes who he becomes so that the speed force could exist and therefore the negative force will eventually manifest by proxy and he could tap into it. Only real problem I have with that is the whole contrived archnemesis creates the hero trope. But I could deal with that it's been done enough in many media adaptations that it doesn't even surprise me anymore so I just deal with it.

Anyhow this is an interesting show. I can't stand Arrow. Mostly because of Stephen Amell's poor line delivery and stilted acting but more importantly because it's Batman lite and that's when GA the character is at his worst like in the Golden Age. Green Arrow is at his best when he evolves to contain his own individual liberal adventurer personality and is only comparable to Batman on a very superficial level like in the bronze age and modern age comics. But this show captures the spirit of The Flash to a tee. It's refreshing to see any live action superhero project where the hero is actually proud to be a hero.

The way they're remixing things is more interesting than Arrow too. Making Caitlin Snow (the future Killer Frost) the fiancee of the guy who will become her archnemesis (Firestorm) is interesting. Making Joe West a detective and Barry's surrogate dad was interesting. Killing off Simon Stagg was very unexpected but interesting because it shows you what kind of curveballs you should expect from this version of the DCU if you're a DC fan. Overall the show is better than even I hoped it would be.

"It's official: THE FLASH is a big honkin' hit for CW. Episode 2 retains 100 percent of A18-49 from debut, with a 1.6. Viewers: 4.1M

FLASH did the same A18-49 rating as ABC's SHIELD last night (1.6)."

In the end the 18-49 demo rating is what network execs care about and it's more important that it held steadily than the amount of total viewers. This is why you've seen shows in the past with a great millions upon millions of total viewers get cancelled like nothing; their 18-49 demo rating was lackluster. This means the future of this show is looking very bright so this is great news.

Reading into it, the cop eddie Thorne is reverse flash, cisco is vibe and Caitlin snow is killer frost. I don't know who Professor wells is.

This shit so dope, but then I come in here and get confused af...

Reverse Flash??? A kid black Flash??

Damn, I need to get into comics...

Here's a question that will show my ignorance and laziness...

What's the difference between DC and Marvel Universes?

And they intertwine right?

I'm becoming a fan and need to do my homework, but if someone can sum it up real quick I would appreciate it...

@DillaDeaf‌ maybe you can help?

Always loved Superman and Batman films...but Flash and Arrow is new to me...

And where does X-Men fit into all of this???

Lol...sorry, I will do some research when I get time.

Nothing wrong with your questions, there are many that aren't comic book heads or just starting. Remember as a beginning comic book reader, there's no such thing as an stupid question, it's only a stupid question if you don't ASK a question.

DC and Marvel are the 2 "big boys" of comics... DC was always more darker alot of times than Marvel, but the darker titles moved over to Vertigo (DC's comic family)

They don't interwine...yes there was crossover, but best believe some take their cues from each other, your fav superhero was probably a copy of another hero from another company

Supes and Bats are normally the easiest to start and work with. Flash and Arrow, I'm still educating myself on both..but I'm lucky in the sense I know the major players outside of the Flash and Arrow universe and sort of know where certain storylines go.

X-Men is something else. Basically the bottom line is to use this analogy --XMen is the "Star Trek" version of comics book industry -- by that I mean, Stan Lee use that brand to tackle racism, hate, cultural differences back in the 60s (same way Star Trek did).

I'm still researching comic stuff everyday.

@DillaDeaf thank you for that insight...

Do kind of feel like I should know this shit coming into a thread like this...

But this will be a new found interest for me...

Appreciate.

I wonder how long before he gets the costume that was on the newspaper page. Hopefully in one of the earlier seasons.

"In a wheel chair, a pariah, lack of restraint made me these things."

Sidenote: I wonder if him standing up out of that wheel chair, and doing something shocking at the end of each episode is going to become a recurring theme, lol.

Nigga is the white Omar......................

that was another good episode. I can't wait until Barry gets more experienced with his powers and starts showing how powerful he truly is

wasn't there a black female kid flash a couple of years ago or was that justice league beyond.

Dope show I think (so far at least) it feels more realistic than arrow. Arrow seemed like they went over budget and they had to save money during the end of the season. But I like how they are building the worlds I wish they would have done this around smallville time.
