If you find a white person you click with, I see no problem being friends with them. That said, I find it hard to even click with white people like that. There are a couple here and there I can have civil associations with, but I've never known any white person that I've wanted to hang out with outside of a school/work type environment. Whether are good or bad, they are usually just too different.
That said, the article is low key trying to make excuses for white people. It's a "Whites don't really know Blacks, so they can't really understand what Blacks go through" type thing. That's understandable to some extent, but their racist tendencies and ignorance go beyond that. It's one thing not to fully understand the Black mistrusting of the police. It's another thing to constantly think that Black mistreatment by cops is somehow justified. Whites don't need minority friends. They need to spend some time as a minority. Only then will some of them truly understand. And even then a lot of them will still cling to their willful ignorance.
