And, of course, my Indians would lose the last 2 games after a 9-game winning streak.

these n.l playoffs will be real cool but there isnt really a ‘favorite’ in my eyes
thats why its funny how national baseball writers have collectively decided that october is predictable and always won by the best team
anything can happen in small sample size baseball
variance

i think he has been overrated his entire mlb career
1 year over 200 innings
1 year sub 3 era
didnt even look into advanced stats
he was a good sp but never elite and has been decent since TJS and with him turning 31 in a month he will never be better than he is now which is serviceable middle rotation guy — he will definitely benefit coming to the n.l — from hitters park in a.l to pitchers park in n.l
his splits are crazy
home (5.38 era)
away (2.49 era)
but i would not give him the contract hes going to want this offseason — i do like the move for the dodgers as a rental though considering how high the initial asking price was reported to be + darvish at the very least is insurance for the dodgers top 3 starters (its not like any of those three have been the model of durability)

not one team id be worried about
even the dodgers
added a top end starter
a very good closer to a already tough bullpen
a good backup C without trading a big league guy
brewers are going to fizzle out
they not built for this
maddon literally was just saying he wanted a backend bullpen guy who could get neutral outs and then theo goes get a power arm who can do both

I want to see how they play vs the d backs and nationals cuz they've been beating bad/below average teams, but the cubs starting pitching been the best in mlb since the quintana acquisition(he hasn't been as sharp in 2 of his 3 starts either)
The cubs offense also still stagnates too much with risp. They had 17 strikeouts twice last week(baez was wilin in the 2nd white sox game at wrigley)
but

contreras been on fire, duke comin for that #1 catcher spot I'm glad the cubs got an experienced back up C cuz this dude be amped 24/7
Caratini should be ready next year,he can also give rizzo more rest at 1b.It does seem like the cubs rounding into form and the bullpen is real strong now.

yeah contreras is on fire right now
his development has been crazy especially behind the plate
he has the look of a man just oozing confidence right now
ive liked all the additions theo has made
the only piece i would have hated to see leave was eloy but to get a controlled pitcher in Q is worth it
i would have loved to seen the cubs play the dodgers -- they played them in late may (before their unreal stretch ) and dont play them at all the rest of the year -- weird schedule -- theres a stretch of like 24 straight games against teams currently under .500 so ideally youd like to see a good showing against the diamondbacks and nationals this week

Yea it hurts theo trade torres and jimenez a year apart but the cubs have too many position players already, and quintana is like a younger version of lester with 3 years of control at a way below market rate.I read theo tried to get stroman from the jays(they wanted baez/jimenez & happ) and fulmer from the tigers they wanted (baez & happ) so I aint trippin cuz that quintana contract opens up money for other things. Also adbert alzolay been pitching good at aa if he finishes this season strong he could be up late '18/early '19 He'll be a #3-4 starter.Cubs farm has a lot of solid pitching prospects now.I think they're built to be in it every year til 2021 then some tough decisions will have to be made.
