Not gonna doubt theo and co,just hope schwarber ready. This a big stage 8 afl ab's straight to the world series

Hope his timing on point

this is a unique situation

a unique hitter

and a unique front office player relationship (theo wouldnt put his golden boy in a situation he wasnt ready for)

and above all

they have earned every cubs fan trust

but im with you

id rather have contreras out there but with the indians having andrew miller as their weapon out of the bullpen

too many lefties off the bench is a bad thing

thats the only way this makes sense

i know schwarber has played a total of 9 playoff games and has 5 home runs which makes him the all time cubs playoff leader

but this is crazy what theyre doing with him lol

cleveland vs chicago in the world series

2 long droughts

terry francona/theo epstein

2 key figures in reversing the 'curse' in boston and 2 unquestionable hall of famers

and 2 teams that made deadline deals with the yankees that have been validated

the totality of clevelands pitching staff is very good but like the 2007 rockies or 2014 royals their starting pitching is average -- they have a bonafide ace in corey kluber but after that theyre relying on the likes of trevor bauer, josh tomlin and ryan merritt -- if those guys can get through 5 innings relatively unscathed then they turn it over to a loaded bullpen led by andrew miller but i cant say i trust bauer, tomlin or merritt to handle the cubs bats

if salazar can get healthy they have a better chance but the biggest problem facing them is that the cubs ALSO have great pitching -- the indians have been hitting poorly against toronto pitching (hitting .208 as a team in the postseason) so they are going to be facing a big uphill battle against lester, hendricks, arrieta, and that bullpen

i wanna say cubs in 5 but i dont know what the hell the indians are doing in the world series to begin with

i'll give them 1 more win out of respect for the work theyve put in

it very well might be something going on over there

we will see

cubs in 6 though

Cosign.Salazar was added to the world series roster this morning

If schwarber pinch hits at wrigley in the 7th/8th with 2 on 1 out and a righty on the mound crown gonna be wilin

the lester cant throw to base narrative comes up every time he pitches on national tv and it never ends up mattering

i really dont remember how many innings/games were negatively affected by the baserunning thing in 2016 lester starts (maybe the reds i dont know) but cleveland is going to run on him -- they led the a.l in SBs and have been super aggressive all year -- the indians would run on anybody so theyre definitely gonna run regardless of lester issues throwing to bases (which i still just do not comprehend)

ross is going to have to keep the runners honest and lester is going to at least have to step off even if he gets the yips throwing over -- the dodgers runners were making their first move back to the base when lester started moving but i dont think the Indians are going to do the same -- at the very least make them think he might throw over there somehow

and as nervous as that would make me (and i would be very nervous) i would be even moreso nervous for game 2 if montero catches jake

maddon cannot let him start a game with the way that cleveland runs

umpires for game 1 tonight

HP Larry Vanover (24 years) 3 DS; 3 LCS

1B Chris Guccione (10 years) 1 WC; 6 DS; 1 LCS

2B John Hirschbeck (33.5 years) 1 WC; 10 DS; 5 LCS; 4 WS

3B Marvin Hudson (17.5 years) 6 DS; 1 LCS

LF Tony Randazzo (17.5 years) 7 DS; 2 LCS

RF Joe West (39 years) 2 WC; 8 DS; 9 LCS; 5 WS

Replay Sam Holbrook (16.5 years) 1 WC; 5 DS; 4 LCS; 1 WS

yup

joe west is on the crew

the joey crawford of baseball

its never good when you know an umpires name

and everyone knows joe goddamn west name

he would be behind the plate for a potential game 6

especially with his walk up music blaring

schwarber go yard today and i'll lose it

i can only imagine what you would be on

we will see which version of salazar cleveland gets

he hasnt pitched since september 9 and on the season he was 11-6 with a 3.87 ERA

he was great in the 1st half of the season though with a 2.22 ERA before it appeared his arm started giving out and he got hit harder before going on the DL

No doubt I'd be hyped.Jed hoyer basically said they're adding him cuz he has power the indians have a bunch of righties(besides miller and merrit) so they feel schwarber can be another power option from the left side besides rizzo.I hope he hits hr's not no gappers where's he's running and sliding into 2nd or 3rd lol.At least he can draw walks and gives the line up another good eye I wonder where he's gonna hit.

I don't know if it would make a difference Now but the cubs faced the indians last year in inter league play.Kluber shut em down(1 run 11k's) salazar kinda had a rough outing(6 hits 4 er's).I hope they can get game 1 but kluber got that nasty slider/slurve whatever it is and I can see a 7-10 k night too

he did look like david ortiz running the bases but i think he was trying to chill

best case: he returns to form and gets a big hit and management is brilliant

worst case: he does nothing which basically gives them the same output theyre getting from heyward and soler

bottom line: low risk with a potential big return

maddon was just on 670 and he said there will be another surprise in the lineup

contreras in LF would have to be it

fowler cf

bryant 3b

rizzo 1b

zoborist rf

baez 2b

russell ss

contreras lf

schwarber dh

ross c

heyward would almost certainly come in for zobrist in the late innings as will almora once contreras moves to catcher

It's coghlan in rf zobrist in lf schwarber hitting 5th.Contreras deserves playing time man wtf. It's whatever just go win it

Man, I am so hyped for tonight! I love it when we're the underdog- We perform better (Cavs). Much respect to the Cubs, though. If y'all wasn't playing us, I would pick y'all to win. Either way, this may be one hell of a World Series!

heyward straight up benched for coghlan lol

so its a

lefty

righty

lefty

lefty

lefty

righty

righty

righty

lineup tonight

klubers career splits

lhb hit .256 vs .223 for rhb

klubers numbers for 2016 are not that high but its still .226 for lhb and .206 for rhb

that alone probably eliminated contreras as a rhb but contreras also hits righties 40 points worse in his short mlb career with .270 for rhp vs .311 for lhp

maddon saving contreras for the late game situations against andrew miller

Aight baseball dudes, I don't really follow baseball too much, but I got a question. How come the Indians have home field even though Cubs have the better record?

All Star Game decides world series home field
