His defense is sick there will probably be a montage after this season of all the plays he's made this season he's a human highlight film on defense

Yep that's it. Kid is sick with the leather.

Arod retiring his last game will be august 12th.The yankees will then release him and sign him to be a special advisor for his last season under contract until dec 31,2017.

i knew this day would come; but glad he at least got a ring. When we traded for him I thought he would help us win at least win 4 more rings.

With Alex and Tex leaving along with all the young guys we got coming into the farm system we can finally try to rebuild instead of throwing money at the problem

I hope they negotiate the DH for the national league in this new collective bargaining agreement.I enjoyed watching the cubs playing in an AL park wit no pitcher batting line up was stacked 1-9

Lol how you know?

Hold on to your batting helmets: what looked like a surge in momentum for the National League to adopt the designated hitter, perhaps even as soon as 2017, turned out to be a little premature. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said yesterday that everyone got a little too excited, and that NL pitchers will be hitting “for the foreseeable future.”

this was the last I read about it.There's dumb national league team gm's opposed to a nl dh

soler injury seemed to take have taken a long time to heal but i would think he was traded based on what i saw around wrigley

one of the stores across the street had all of his shirts on clearance

ive been very surprised at how soler has performed his first 3 games back though (he was garbage on his rehab stint) but prior to getting hurt he was hitting well

in his last 20 games

.333 ba

5 hrs

12 rbis

1.025 ops

.410 obp

maybe just maybe hes finally putting things together

@"Tommy bilfiger" is hendricks a starter in the playoffs?

arrieta and lester are locked in as the 1-2 pitchers in the postseason but does hendricks battle lackey for that game 3?

hes blossoming i keep waiting for him to get rocked hard but he just keeps missing bats and hitting his spots extremely consistently for 90-100 pitches per game

Yea soler was impressive this weekend 2 hr's 5 rbi's he has that batters eye schwarber has, not the plate discipline but the eye he lays off a lot of close pitches others chase he just needs to be consistent that's my only issue with soler

It shouldn't even be a battle it should be hendricks without a doubt his era the last month is 0.47 he is not overpowering he has that maddux type stuff.lackey should be the 4th starter in the playoffs he's a hot head who loses focus too much and I don't even want hammel on the roster

as david price labored through another start it made me look into how many star FAs from last winters supposed super FA class have underachieved this year

price

greinke

heyward

upton

gordon

davis

samardzija

and even zimmermann (after a strong start)

cespedes

cueto

have proven to be worth it among the real big names

really the only 2 mega contracts that have panned out and its hard to term cespedes likely 1 year commiment as mega

fowler

desmond

after waiting most of the winter and getting bargain deals have made teams look bad for not giving them long term

happ

murphy

have also been steals

zobrist has been solid for the cubs

word

consistency

i knew there was a good chance we would see stretches this season where soler is the baddest dude in the cubs lineup

lackey usually is solid in the postseason if he pitches well down the stretch i could see maddon giving him the nod over hendricks but yeah i wouldnt be afraid to slot him in #3 if things keep going like this -- best case is a nlds sweep and then hendricks gets game 1 of the lcs at home where hes been lights out

hes had a great career
