mark buehrle used to always get white sox fans mad when he would talk about how he would love to retire playing for his hometown team

the stl cardinals

watch him either retire or go play for them smh

his last 3-4 starts where he got rocked for like 50 runs isnt indicative of what he is and he still posted a solid era for the year -- i can definitely see him filling in the lackey role of the elder statesman who can still pitch effectively that the cardinals seem to have every year

I doubt they trade fernandez unless they get an offer they can't refuse. It's another situation where boras was trying to tell front offices how to handle his client

Multiple high-placed sources told MLB.com that the club is not shopping or intending to shop the 23-year-old, who is one of the most popular players in recent team history.

boras shit aside (as if you needed anymore reason than that) i think the marlins also know fernandez has a delivery that could result in lingering arm problems -- they were talking about him on mlb network last year and i remember them all agreeing that unless he learns to rotate his elbow more externally around the time his front foot plants that there is a high chance he gets hurt again

they also said its really not a difficult change BUT he would likely experience a dip in stuff because of it

white sox need to float sale name around too because his mechanics are a disaster but they seem to work for him physically -- hes had a couple of minor injuries and last year really got me thinking if theyre starting to get to him and if his injuries will be worse as he ages -- now it could be that sale is a freak of nature that can stay healthy despite the amount of pressure/torque placed on his shoulder and elbow but if a team wants to give up the farm for him then fuck finding out

and thats what i think the marlins are doing

fernandez special and even with the injury risk worth trying to get signed long term but it doesnt hurt to float his name around to see if a team like the cubs would bite and then come out vehemently against it

the playoffs through winter meetings are the most exciting times in baseball (trade deadline sometimes too)

cant wait for the hot stove to really heat up around mid december

The cubs were the 1st team I thought of cuz this literally what theo is looking for,a young cost controlled pitcher and fernandez is an ace but it would probably take a huge haul and that's what I'm skeptical about.

And I remember steve stone saying the same thing about kerry wood in 04.He said woods delivery is too violent and puts unnecessary strain on his elbow & shoulder. He said if wood don't change his delivery asap his days as a starter were numbered, that's when stone was beefing wit dusty, mercker, alou and the rest of those sensitive clowns who then choked the '04 wild card and we saw who was right.Wood lasted 2 more years as a starter with a combined 14 starts and mad dl trips

lmao i forgot about that

mercker getting mad because they were praising the other team too much -- alou talking about steve stone is too critical to be doing cubs broadcasts and then dusty and the players trying to have stone and chip removed from the team plane for basically not being homers enough

but yeah thats why theo plan all along has been draft bats and avoid high draft pick pitchers -- the risk/reward for pitching is very different than with batters/position players and its only getting worse because i remember stone saying that kids with horrible mechanics are being allowed to put undue stress on their arms since youth and h.s coaches dont have the the expertise or knowledge to spot the problems and tweak the mechanics

thats why all these young pitchers are getting tj surgery so early in their careers

On at least two occasions in the Marlins clubhouse this season, Fernandez approached Hill --- according to multiple player sources --- and openly said "when are you going to trade me?"

"There were times this season where, not all, but some players and coaches hoped Jose would go out on the mound and get shelled," a player source told me. "We thought it would get him to be more humble."

The stories I've been told by several player sources within the last few weeks certainly paint a different picture of the team and their fan-friendly, star pitcher.

Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria implemented a team rule stating players and coaches are not permitted to wear pullover hoodies during batting practice or in the dugout during a game unless the team is playing in cold weather conditions. "That's a rule that Fernandez doesn't care about," one player source told me.

Casey McGehee --- who the Marlins brought back mid-season --- got into a shouting match with Fernandez before one game, I'm told. "Jose was late and Casey gave it to him," the source said.

Yo we need one of them pitchers bruh...Them niggas got hella talent in that rotation, Kluber, Carrassco, and Salazaar. We need 1 of them niggas.

Honestly that team as a whole is crazy talented. If Kluber would've actually gotten some run support this past season they probably would've made the playoffs.

It will suck when we do trade one of our pitchers, but we're in a desperate need for some bats. Our offense was shitty.
