Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Sunday that if the D-backs stave off elimination in Game 3 on Monday, Patrick Corbin will be the starter in Game 4 on Tuesday.

“We looked at Patrick as being a very versatile piece in this puzzle,” Lovullo said. “We had him for length and coverage over the first couple games. He was prepared to go down to the bullpen. And then we’re planning on having him start Game 4.”

baseball games cannot be cancelled in the post season so theres no chance of a team winning before the 9th

will be interesting to see what happens if around 3pm the rain starts pouring in

do they wait 5+ hours and finish today

do they finish tomorrow

and then is it verlander vs sale to close out game 4

if the game isnt tied and theres a really long rain delay the emotions will be all over the place -- either boston will be ahead with the thought they can pull this comeback off or despair that theyre behind and the season has slipped away -- to sit in the clubhouse for 4-5-6 hours is gonna be crazy unless the rain holds off entirely (which seems unlikely)

Yea let's see what your boy quintana does.I'm real skeptical, if he pitches like he did vs the brewers/orioles today then I'll never say another bad thing about him.If he's loading bases hitting batters and has those1st inning struggles I'm done with quintana.

quintana admitted to being nervous his first start at wrigley

so expect big times nerves early

but the cubs traded a top tier prospect for him for this exact reason.

but also as importantly the cub players need to be patient at the plate early on

scherzer has not been able to stay in his normal pitching routine due to the injury so theres a sizable chance that he shows his rust early on and struggles with command — no need for the cubs to bail him out by being anxious at the plate
