now thats hes more comfortable in blue quintana has reverted to his norm

which is the pitcher he was the last 2 years before getting caught up in trade rumors this season and the world baseball mess up of his early season arm

even though i feel like im looking at my own child have more fun with another family this was by far the best crosstown trade in chicago sports history — in the past one side always got the better deal — not this time — both sides won — both the cubs and white sox have moved themselves closer to winning the world series

just on different timelines

Arrieta,Hendricks,Quintana,Lester should be the playoff rotation in that order

i think it will probably come down to how lester pitches in his next two games

if he pitches well

my guess is he gets the game 1 start with arrieta going game 2

if lester continues to proves he doesnt have it

probably skip arrieta start on sunday and he goes game 1 with lester game 2

maddon has stated he really doesnt want to rest anyone and without a day off this rotation is pretty much set in stone from here on out

but lets see if he changes his tune once they clinch

i wouldnt want him touching a game at wrigley right now (especially in a potential elimination game)

the control that giolito displayed at the major league level was surprising to me after what i read/heard from his time in charlotte

i know he was throwing a ton of fastballs when the breaking stuff wasnt there but i still cant believe how well he found the strike zone

if he can command the offspeed stuff at all

stop spiking the curves

stop letting the change float up in the zone

etc

he has a chance to get back to that #1 starter projection everyone had for him -- as it stands now id still be happy going forward with the giolito i got over these 7 starts but now im greedy for more after seeing just how great he can be

the hard charging tigers dropped a game to the royals to keep their hopes alive but the giants snatched a clutch loss from the jaws of victory to keep their hold on last place — san fran led 3-1 going into the bottom of the 9th in arizona but rallied to give up three runs for a walk off loss

detroit is making it tough they have dropped nine in a row to insert themselves into the picture though

Cards fans don't have confidence in matheny.I remember la russa over managing the shit out of every inning/situation

Matheny just watches.They hate him for that, the game the other night wacha cruising but his #'s 3rd time thru the order are awful, I talkin bout ugly numbers(.330 opp ba,era 6+,ob% .400).Any manager wit common sense would have a bullpen pitcher or 2 warming up just in case wacha struggles his 3rd time thru the order.Cubs ambushed wacha for 4 runs and went from down 1-0 to up 4-1 to clinch the division.

When you think about the cubs had a crucial 8 game road trip vs the brewers and cards they went 6-2 and the 2 games they lost one was a walk off hr vs the brewers davis 1st blown save of the year and the 2nd they came back down 8-3 in the 8th cut it to 8-7 and lost with 2 men on with baez striking out.That gives me more confidence than I had in them.Nationals have the type of pitching staff that can shut them down & they shored up their bullpen. + I'm petrified of daniel murphy at wrigley field fuck man not tryna deal wit this dude.
