"That's NOT in the bible"

true that the phrasing is not the same and it is modern abbreviation of the actual scriptures the saying still is accurate and based on Proverbs...

I don't think there is anything wrong with coming up with fancy ways to say what be a chore to explain. The danger is that we think that we have the right to do so in any and every situation and that we are correct when we do so. Besides, what would it look like if in Ditka's interview in explaining himself, he actually whips out a Bible and began to "preach" or the interviewer says "No, you are wrong" and he (or she) whips out the Bible as well...especially in a society that frowns on the public display of religion.

Damn, I didn't know the "God helps those who help themselves" line wasn't in the Bible. That sucks cause I actually use that a lot. lol

Well I believe it's true, but I can no longer say it's biblically supported. Which is unfortunate because I really despise those people who just sit around waiting for God to do everything for them. It was nice thinking their was an actual Biblical passage that spoke against that type of behavior.
