I cant see him selling more than Drake

Beyonce didn't even do a mil 1st week

Im rooting for him tho

But i have no faith in the general public. Especially rap fans

Kendrick should be concerned about these comments. Should of dropped the album last Oct or nov riding the I and Ferguson wave. This Mar 23 shit sounds like some take it or leave it order from interscope. Kendrick is supposed to be a aftermath/interscope flagship artist and he really getting the Obie trice treatment. No promo or press about this album but unrealistic financial expectations.

I predict J Cole numbers first week out which is good in the current sales climate.

He has a built in fan base from the last TDE projects but he doesn't really have that one new single that is pushing him over the top in terms of grabbing new fans or building up hype.

He should have dropped before Drake did. Say what you want about Drake's mixtape but it stole some of Kendrick's thunder. And now with Kanye on deck... rap audience in 2015 is fickle...

i wouldnt be worried bout drake overshadowing kendrick or lack of traditional roll out or none of that. ion think no popular single is a sign of the label not fuckin with kendrick. i think kendrick chose this, and its slick starting to become the new "wave". some of the bigger artist in the game just sayin fuck that extra shit, here go the album. not hatin on the traditional rollout, but i like this too. drake mixtape was good(to me, unpopular opinion i know lol) im pretty sure this album gon be quality as well

It's not impossible tho, GKMC crushed expectations on release, nobody saw that album doing over 150k in the first week let alone going platinum, not in the era of J.COle, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Wale, Kid Cudi, Drake, Lil Wayne, Eminem.

Kendrick has 2 grammies to his name, a double platinum debut, a huuuge cult following/fan base, one of the hottest teams in rap and we still don't know much about the album so that element of surprise is in the air. The biggest difference tho is he gave fans a release date whereas Beyonce and Drake came without warning and did those numbers (plus Drake dropped a mixtape not even an album). It's highly likely Kendrick Lamar will do over 700k in the first week. Shit J.Cole did 650k in his first week and he didn't have all those factors that Kendrick has going for him so a million in a week is not far fetched......

Forest Hills Drive sold 354,000 copies in its first week... where you getting your numbers from, b?

I think you guys are sleeping on Kendricks fanbase. His debut went platinum basically off buzz alone. White hipsters love this guy, the mainstream loves him, and obviously Hip Hop loves him. I wouldn't be suprised at all to see him do a million in a week.

why none of these white artists have to take the backseat to promotion? fuck what beyonce and cole did. they have Jay Z behind them who known for doctoring first week numbers since the 90s. Taylor swift, gaga, eminem, and imagine faggots all white interscope artists get multi million dollar promo from jimmy. remember that awkward primetime eminem CFB interview that if a nigga pulled he would be blacklisted from earth, or that 25 million dollar flop from gaga that cost other people their jobs but the bitch kept hers or my all time favorites imagine faggots and shake it off being at every event during NBA allstar weekend. TDE need more than a strong fanbase to even 300k let alone a million. they should be blowing up Dre and Iovine phone about making this album an event if they talking about a million in one week. All the last hip hop million sellers had sometype of heavy buzz and major single to fallback on. Carter 3/4, Graduation, GRODT even Jay Z cheating ass with MCHG all had mainstream press through major news and entertainment networks at their release. I feel like a mid march release date is for a debut artist with no faith. There is no buzz about this album. I does not get spins on the radio anymore and he hasnt had a follow up to keep the masses outside his fanbase talking. How will this help push a million in one week. TDE need to get their heads out of their asses. this aint 2012 all of their overhyped artist flopped hard. soul flop, rashad flop, sza flop, schoolboy q flop that arrogance making these niggas belive they can sell a million when they not dealing with reality of situation.

My bad you right I was going off of an old thread where he was at 650k by end of the month. Right now that album is at 957,279 records sold in the U.S.

LOL... it is all good man, we just politicking in here anyway.

I have no doubt that Kendrick will go platinum plus... I just don't see him doing Lil Wayne numbers first week out.

One of my favorite albums in awhile was that Prhyme joint and that shit went triple wood wrapped in aluminum.

Big numbers don't always equate to good music...
