Met when they were about 11, got together when they were 18 according to Tashera. So they practically grew up with each other.

I was refering to their own lives and stuff they went through individually though which maybe has a big part in why they'll always have a relationship in some way.

But basically DMX needs a caretaker/mother since his mother was abusive, "abandoned him" and didn't take good care of him and his sister if you watch his Behind The Music. That's why DMX said in one of his older songs even his sister use to do hard drugs. That's prolly why DMX goes in and out to jail all the time psychologically. It's a home for him and in there he doesn't need to cook, clean or do anything he just rests his head and hes out since he never learned alot of "regular" shit bcuz of his parents. So he got used to the jail system (wake up when they tell you to etc) and is comfortable around those characters in there since that's the ppl he grew up around.

She says that she was the oldest one out of like alot of kids in her family and had to basically be a "parent" at a young age for her siblings so DMX prolly offered her that protection (not just physically) and comfort that maybe she needed. Plus her being the oldest one also made it easier and prolly made her joyful take care of DMX since she was used to doing all that for her siblings.
