Taking A Visit To Compton, CA.... Good or Bad Idea?

Went with the family to LA one summer, met up with some family from the LA area and the fam from the bay area drove down as well. We ended up at a cookout right off Crenshaw in Compton. I could throw a rock at Crenshaw and would hit a car driving by.

Basically, my wife's brother and I were out in the front of the house on grill duties, kickin it when some raggedy ass broad with that "I'm high as fuck but trying not to look like I'm high as fuck" walk came down the block. A car pulled up, they made an "exchange", then went about their merry ways. We looked at each other and was like "yeah... you know you in the hood when..." and kept on cookin.

If you're used to that environment, it won't even phase you. Honestly, if you grew up in the hood, there's really no point in even visiting Compton 'cause there's nothing going on there that didn't happen back home.

Well it depends on what part of Compton ur trying to visit. Some areas are more active than others so it wouldn't matter if its day or night. Oh and I wouldn't wear that "NY" hat u have on in ur avi either kuz that would lead to LOTS of problems with LOTS of gangs that won't even ask u if u bang or not, juss str8 jump or kill on sight.

I was out in Cali about 6-7 years ago visiting my bruh-in-law in Long Beach. We went to Inglewood and Compton to visit some of his fam. It was in the daytime and shit seemed like any other hood to me. Check it out, just watch what colors you wear as others have suggested. I've heard the gang bangin ain't what it used to be, but no need for you to find out the hard way.

Seriously there are way more interesting and fun areas in the SoCal area which are not far.
Compton aint what it was but aint sweet neither. If u just wanna chill in the hood go ahead, tourist.

Me and my lady want to visit Cali. I personally want to see Compton, but of course she's not feeling it. She's has the stereotypical view based off movies and hear say. This isn't a field trips to the hood type deal. I'm aware of the possibe dangers. I want to see Cali and all its glory, but Compton would be the highlight. So those who reside in Cali, visited or have no intentions on going what's your take on it?

That's the highlight? Dude skip compton and just hit up Roscoe's on Pico Ave or the one off Gower's Ave in Hollywood. Ain't nothing to see in Compton but city blocks like anywhere else. It's so many hoods in the LA area that one blends into the next. All you gon do is drive through and see houses, shops, liquor stores, and churches.

But if you really intent on your hood tour just start by the coast and take Manchester Ave and keep heading east, Compton Ave south, and Rosecrans Ave back east to Hawthorne north back to Manchester. You'll pass through Inglewood, Watts, Compton, Garden, and Hawthorne. Good luck with that at night.

Don't be fooled by the sun, palm trees, and if the "hood" don't look ghetto. LA does get active.
