Luda is far better now but it was a lot closer during TIP's Urban Legend, Trap Muzik days

i believe t.i. is a step behind luda as far as being considered a great or legend, and is behind him lyrically, but eventually both will be considered greats in their own right...

I think far as hood respect it is T.I. all day. But when it comes to them going at it in a lyrical battle I think Luda would win. Ludacris's mix tapes are more of what hip hop fans would like in my opinion, but he puts out records for more of the commercial audience. Also Luda has more TV success with movies that also do well. Although Luda doesn't really promote his more hardcore songs, he always gives you a club banger that everyone can bop to every here and there. So I will have to take Ludacris on this one.

if you listen T.I.P'S first album I'm Serious you'll see his lyrical and story telling skillss. Classic album, but oce the industry/machine gets behind you they do have a heavy influence on what the artist put out. T.I makes commercial music to sell, they are no longer artist but businessmen as well. But i agree that t.ip and luda they are contemporaries when you come down to it but luda ate t.i on that young buck diss

I'll go with Luda just for his large catalog and bringing up the south like Scarface and Outcast did. If it wasn't for them artist like T.I. might have not been given the chance, since no one reps southern artist.

Luda by a long shot. He's a lot more consistent, point blank. Even though Theater of Mind wasn't as good as I expected, i'd take that and Release Therapy over T.I.'s last 2 any day.

These niggas are contemporaries...southern contemporaries. But at this point in time, right now, who do you feel has a better chance to be mentioned as a possible G.O.A.T. contender, if they aren't already? This can be a combination of commercial success, quality of catalog, lyricism, etc.

As far as commercial success goes, T.I. will be mentioned in the "greats" convo and will probably be mentioned as a legend someday, and that's cool. I still consider his music to be subpar, overall.

Luda doesn't follow the "gangsta" theme as far as his image goes, which in most cases hurts him because that's what people are used to co-signing. This could explain the disappointing sales of his last few albums and why, even now, he struggles to find some sort of hit on the charts. The "comedic" rapper typically has a harder path but Luda will be considered a legend someday, and as far as I see it, he's already a great. When you mention southern lyricists, it's hard for Luda to not be mentioned consistently, as he's already the highest selling solo rapper from the south.

As of right now, I think Luda will have an easier time being mentioned as a possible G.O.A.T. He's a more cohesive and multi-faceted artist than T.I. who, if you strip away the hot guest features and his seemingly good ear for beats, is very average.

You're an idiot.

True. And I think it's funny that people use the argument that "T.I. makes better music than Luda" as a way to advocate for him.

I think T.I.'s catalog, collectively, is a lot more spotty than Luda's.

T.I. has passed Luda and lapped him on the track of hiphop success.

Trap Muzik
Urban Legend
King
Papertrail

Luda cant fuck with those albums

T.I.>>>>>Ludacris

Songwriting- T.I.

Technical skill (flow, delivery, lyrics etc.)- Luda

Catalog- T.I.

Ludacris' biggest flaw is execution and some of his ideas come off gimmicky. Both Release Therapy and Theater of the Mind were supposed to be concept albums, but came off as gimmicks. T.I. had this flaw w/ T.I. vs. T.I.P., but it's the only real blemish in his catalog in regard to execution.

Every album ti drops has banger singles... Every one! Luda tries to do that em formula and that shyt dont work....

Luda was nice back in the day, but when its time to drop an album or single.... Ti hands down!

I agree. but I think Luda is capable of at least one classic album that's yet to be dropped, but we'll see...

I disagree Jay, I don't believe he has it in him this late in his career... it's extremely rare to see an artist come out with a so called classic so late in their career... I'd say it's more of a worry for Luda to stay current than anything now.

He is a gifted emcee though regardless... and I've enjoyed Luda's music over the years more than T.I's.
