It has less to do with wayne not being hot and more to do with the rap community being supportive of this new era of social slacktivism. The majority of modern fans now are mad at wayne hence T.I. jumping on the bandwagon. Pre Trayvon the hip hop fans and community wasn't as outraged by this issue but now it is a fad to pretend to be an activist.

It goes in cycles in the early 90s these issues of police brutality mattered then post OJ trial the hip hop game cooled down and shut up and made money. Now in the last few years there have been calls to tackle the same issues from the early 90s.
