Street Fighter 5's beta has 'a number of different characters' to play, Ono says online will have much for casual fans to enjoy

Over at E3 2015, PlayStation Access caught up with Street Fighter Yoshinori Ono to pick his brain and get the lowdown on Capcom's upcoming fighter -- Street Fighter 5. During their chat, Ono-san touched upon the game's online, character reveals, and much more.

Although Capcom is opening up a SF5 beta to those who pre-order the game near the end of this month, there is still much we don't know about it. While early access demos usually grant players control of one or two characters, it seems like the Street Fighter 5 beta won't follow suit.

"We're going to have a number of different characters for people to play and to enjoy," Ono said by way of a translator.

Ono went on to discuss the appeal this game will have to fans across the board. While hardcore players will be enthralled by the deep game mechanics and the Capcom Pro Tour, casual fans will find much waiting for them in the game's online mode. "With the online system, we're preparing a lot of very cool things that online players are going to be able to really enjoy. It's going to keep them glued to their consoles."

Capcom discusses Street Fighter 5's roster and selection process, users will only need to own one disc

We spoke at length with Matt Dahlgren, the Director of Brand Marketing & eSports at Capcom, about the roster size of Street Fighter 5, and future development plans.

I asked Matt how big of a roster they're aiming for at launch, and what fans should expect to see when the game drops in the spring of 2016.

"We're not revealing the total roster count just yet," said Dahlgren. "What we can say is that we're putting a strong focus on making sure that every character put into the game is very unique and has their own individuality.

"We want to start off with a core roster which will be inviting to new players. When you start off with a gigantic roster right off the bat, it can be pretty daunting for new players to figure out where to start."

It's pretty impressive how much better the game looks now than it did a few months ago, and people who have seen it in motion say it looks even better in motion.

at this point all i want is gouki's night time grassland stage from alpha 2 and Sagat's buddha statue stage from SF2.

It would be dope if they recreate a bunch of classic sf stages. Ryu old school would probably be sick if re-mastered

Veteran street fighter Ken Masters is coming to Street Fighter 5, Capcom confirmed at its San Diego Comic-Con panel today. The fighter will play less like his shotokan counterpart Ryu than ever before, Capcom said after revealing the fighting game's latest character.

All we need now is the gameplay vid
