I would probably say "hell no", but I wouldn't say that it was absurd. There are ginat creatures that roam the earth now, so I woildn't say it's impossible.

The fact that there are large creatures that exist in Earth now, would let me know that it's not an impossibility, which is different than some all powerful magical being existing out of know where.

okay but alot of non believers have the"if there's no evidence then i don't believe it" attitude and just like everything else in life , you don't always have proof. but u made a valid point about there being large animals today. but if no fossils were ever found im sure some people in this thread woul say they never existed.

But if we start accepting things with no evidence, that leaves us open to an infinite amount of things we would have to accept.

If people were to start accepting things that have no evidence to back it up, we would have to be accepting of every single point of view/idea anyone could come up with unless it can be proved to be false.

That's why a lot of people use the "prove to me a pink invisible Unicorn didn't create the universe" argument.

And the conclusion you choose is that a MAGICAL SUPER DUPER POWERFUL PERSON decided that the universe should exist.

And when asked who then created this god, you say he did not need to be created.

Normally I have no problem, nor care what people believe, but keep in mind, the reason this thread was started in the first place was because of people like Steve Harvey. Sadly, meany religious people hold the same views as Steve Harvey. As a result people speak out against those type of people, and their beliefs.

Other than that, it's natural for me to speak up, or throw in a comment when someone is talking about God, and how Science doesn't make any sense. I just think it's a natural thing for people with opposing views to clash.

Fossils are how humans found out about them in the first place. So if someone made the (would be) baseless statement that "I think, that around a couple hundred million years ago, there were massive reptilian animals that roamed the Earth.", I'd have no reason to believe them.

As is often the case with people feeling offended by something, atheists are often offended by religion because they feel it affects them negatively. And in many ways, it does.

And I'm offended when the Pope in Rome and the imams in Afghanistan get away with RAPING CHILDREN because of their positions of religious authority. And I'm offended when people think they have the right to murder each other because they think God commanded it. And you can see how this list can go on and on and on.

Religion has been a plague on the human race. We took a big step in the right direction when we cleaved it away from government, where it had been comfortable for so many thousands of years.

fair enough, but i believe religion gets an unfair chunk of being the but of the joke, as if "believeing in an imaginary friend" is the funniest thing ever, never mind pedos, murderers, sociopaths, crazy people that actually cause harm to others, no, those religious people praying to a god are definately much funnier and deserve to be ridiculed more than anyone else. everyone has different sense of humor but i just don't find worthy of expending so much energy on making fun of something and trying to debunk it every chance i get. wickens for example, they believe in some weird shit from my point of view but i still don't make fun of them and try to debate about why this isn't real and whatnot. i just don't care.

Well, just to be brutally honest, that's kind of hard.

A lot view belief in God as equivalent to belief of Santa Claus, or something like that.

If this compensates for anything, I tell people in real life that I'm a Christian, and everything's peachy.

But seeing how a lot of religious people will treat atheist, I don't feel bad at all for making fun of them. (religious people) I'd do much more than make fun of them if I could.
