Has so much potential though. They got all the cool characters, environments and weapons already done for them.

Star Wars Battlefront Features 12 Multiplayer Maps

Star Wars Battlefront will boast 12 multiplayer maps when the game launches this holiday season.

On the Star Wars Battlefront website, EA and DICE revealed the multiplayer map tally while discussing the creation of planet Sullust for Star Wars Battlefront. Sullust, which previously was only mentioned in Return of the Jedi, joins other confirmed locations Endor, Hoth and Tatooine as settings for arenas in the multiplayer-centric action game.

In regard to Sullust, there are mentions (though not confirmed) that the lava planet may host four of the maps, based on various themes. "The overall look and feel for Sullust is very much Imperial and under construction, playing in locations within the planet such as a lava theme, sulfur theme, Death Star-inspired theme and lastly a mine theme," reads the EA and DICE blog post.

Previously, Star Wars Battlefront producer Jesper Nielsen had confirmed that there would be more than eight maps in the game. Now, it's confirmed there are 12 multiplayer maps at launch, with two more free maps on the way afterward with the Battle of Jakku DLC.

EA and DICE also hinted at a close-quarters combat mode when talking about the 12 launch maps. While some maps are designed for larger-scale battles like the Walker Assault mode, there are others "tailored to more intimate, close-quarters combat," according to the companies.

With Star Wars Battlefront planned for a November release, EA and DICE will presumably pull back the curtain on much more of the action game at E3. EA is holding its hour-long press conference June 15.

EA is the victim of an audacious cyber-squatting campaign by users from 4chan's /v/ board.

The mischief began when an anonymous poster was able to buy the domains eastarwars.com and eastarwarsbattlefront.com, both of which were left unregistered. Making the situation more embarassing, EAStarWars is already the official Twitter handle used by the publisher. The official site for EA's Star Wars games uses the domain starwars.ea.com.

EAStarWars.com now directs users to a site claiming that Battlefront has been cancelled, before listing all the features from 2005's Star Wars Battlefront 2 that have been omitted from the new game. At the bottom of the page is a memorial to all the studios "killed" by EA. Meanwhile, the song "Come, Sweet Death" from anime Evangelion plays automatically. EAStarWarsBattlefront.com features the same information, slowly being revealed by a scrolling skull playing a sad trumpet.

On the /v/ boards, the anonymous user posted that they want to "extort EA into eventually forking over some money". A free Russian contact email in the name of "dingdong1232" appears at the bottom of the first website.

EA has yet to respond.

I'm glad they decided to keep the ability to switch between 3rd and first person instead of making it strictly first person. Seeing that footage brings back memories of battle front 2 on my ps2. I think I'll dust it off and have a couple of matches. I'll gladly she'll out cash for dlc space battles. I hope they have some episode VII stuff for dlc content.
