What makes your opinion worth more than anyone elses?

Because I have ears and know just enough about hip hop to tell when something is nonsense and foolishness. I can respect an opinion if anyone can reasonably back up what they're saying with more than just "well this is my opinion"

Not that I'm saying my opinion holds more weight than anybody Else's.

I'm not saying he or anyone cant prefer Carter 1 over Carter 2, but to say it's actually better is what's the issue. I would rather listen to It was Written over Illmatic, but that doesn't mean IWW is better than Illmatic. If that analogy makes sense.

Once again I have ears and based on actually using them I can tell when something is better than the other. Listening to Illmatic it's is clearly a better album, but It was Written has more replay value to me.

That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying that if you compare most universal accepted classics (Doggystyle, Chronic, It Takes a nation) and compare it to any of the Carter albums it just doesn't hold up, there was a time when the word "classic" meant something now stans through the word around to overrate their favorite rappers albums.

How do you think those became universal classics? It wasnt over night. Who is to say that something doesnt hold up to another? I get what your saying, but if we all thought that way then no one would ever make a classic again.

Nah it wasn't overnight but if you listen to those albums and then put it any of the carter albums it just dont hold up. Any classic album should be able to sonically hold it's own with past classics. Like hall of famers in sports should.

Good point but even then an album shouldn't be a reach if it's put in the same breath as other past classics. Put it in perspective hip hop is still fairly new.

haha just read whole thread, bout to give my opinion on some issues. Carter 2 was better than carter one. I loved carter 3 when it dropped an most ppl bumped it all summer. granted it was a rather dry summer for music. shit was hot. not as lyrical as his others though. Eminem is not a good singer. Lupe along wth more people than most will admit are better than biggie. I have mixed opinions on their album comparisons. I felt a little of both biggie albums and most of the cool. not much else from lupe. but ppl talk biggie up cuz he died. r.i.p. big, u were good, but not great. Eminem is not better than nas. Eminem sells more. but thats cuz there are more white ppl in this country. Sales mean next to nothing. Shaq sold a milli!! He can't rap for shit. Dre sells but he don't even write his own stuff. in this millenium unfortunatley, beats sell records. not lyrics. which is why nas aint makin mad bank. He is a better lyricist than eminem and anyone else in the game, ever. I ain't even a nas stan. He's like lower end of my top 10 favs. but he's at the top of my goats. cuz he spits real shit with better lyrical ability than anyone else can. I'm still bumpin illmatic and it was written though. and to the eminem stan who said eminem is better and mentioned albums. Nas got at least 4 or 5 classics. marshal mathers lp is the only one considered classic by non stans. and i thought that was weak. most of that albums hype was the sales record. I thought eminem show was much better and more entertaining. And one last eminem comment. He is a horrible producer. Case and point: loyal to the game. Now for my list of worst stans. 1. 50/G-Unit stans. they think everything they do is a direct gift from god himself. some of them just think 50 is the second coming. its really bad. Listen to pass the patron by tony yayo. I heard g-unit stans call that song fire and instant classic. 2. Shady stans. I said alot about these people already. but one more thing. Don't these people say everything he releases is his best since marshall mathers lp and then 6 months later or when the new album comes out say that it was pretty weak. These guys are so excited for any new material that they immediatley start clammoring that its album of the year. similar to the teflon don situation. Also he aint a great lyricist, he can spit fast b.f.d. 3. Weezy/Young Money stans. I am a weezy fan but these people take it too far. I don't even need to say much more except the guy who posts on here whose top 10 is all young money artists. forget his name and im mid post so fuck it. 4.Jay-Z stans. These people still think that Jay-z either beat nas or is still fighting the war. they cant let go and they refuse to admit that he cried on air. again I'm a jay-z fan but not a stan. He lost that battle and needs to get over it. they also think that reasonable doubt was the hip hop messaih. smh. 5. Jeezy stans. These dudes say he has 2 classics and a third coming. Lyrically, the boys wack. His voice is more annoying than anyone except for weezy when he gets like that. you know what im talking about. and he got no flow. I'll give it to him that he's real though. he's hard but not talented. we get it you sold cocaine. now chill with it. Now for me. I am a Lloyd Bank$ stan. self admitted. He's the best in the unit (which isn't sayin much at all) and one of the best alive. hfm2 gonna shit on anything you hear this summer except maybe good ass job. and possible distant realtives. but thats a bit of a different genre. my top 5 favs? 1. 2pac 2. Weezy 3. Banks 4.Kanye 5.Game. just a little insight for yea there. Hope you enjoyed my analysis.
