I don't understand Square to be honest. People didn't actually jump for joy in response to FFXIII, yet we're now getting a second direct sequel to that game. Why? I actually liked FFXIII, but out of all the great FF titles out there, it's not one that deserved to have all this follow-up attention.

You know the story of why the game is called "Final Fantasy"? It was Squaresoft's last effort to stay in business, so if it failed, it would've been their final game.

You know why FF7 didn't get a sequel? Same reason. The minute they stop turning a profit, they'll announce the remake to that game and instantly go from broke to wealthy again. Releasing that or a sequel would be like sprinting in a marathon.

So long as they make a profit, there's no need to use the Get Out of Bankruptcy for Free card.

You're a bit late. FF7 got a sequel (Advent Children), a spinoff (Dirge of Cerberus) and two prequels (Before Crisis and Crisis Core). You must have missed out on that whole FF7 anniversary celebration they did a few years back when they released all of this stuff. To be fair though, Dirge of Cerberus was the only console game.

I didn't say it was the greatest game in the world, but it wasn't unplayable. It was much better than 12 in my opinion. That was the first FF game I didn't even bother finishing.

I think people are over stating the FF7 remakes potential. I don't think that many people want it outside of the internet.

It will sell but It's not save Square if they are bout to go out of business.
